DIY- upgrading alternator on an 06 civic EX (250 amp alt)
pics will be added as i upload them/take them...............
im going to be running 2 kx1200.1's strapped (close to 3000watts), and a 200x2 amp for my comps. and felt my stock electrical wouldn't be good enough so there for i ordered a 250 amp alt from MECHMAN (great customer service, fantastic product, and dyno tested before sent out ) enough talking heres the DIY sorry for the big ass pics LOL disconnect batt: ![]() disconnect everything from the alternator: ![]() ![]() zip tie everything out of the way so you can see what your working on: ![]() locate the tensioner(will find out size mm in the morning) little thing sticking out under the belt ![]() this tensioner is a hydraulic tensioner, meaning dont jerk it like its a nut. slowly push with a open end wrench and a pipe (for added leverage towards the firewall) and pull the belt off. note: it does not come out like a bolt or anything like that. it just lifts up......... ![]() undo the two bolts: one is located on the top of the alt (pictured) and one underneath the alt (couldnt get a pic) ![]() Stock alt out and ready to put the new 250 amp in ![]()
