DIY: Changing Cabin Filter for Only $5

Duration of this DIY is : 10-15 Mins
Note: My filter didn't need replacing FYI

Materials needed:

1 Air condition Filter ($5 for a decent size @ Walmart, Which will last you for about 5 years? 1 peice lasted me for a year)

8mm socket with 1/4 ratchet (if possible a 3" Extension and a 1/4 Spinner will make this ALOT easier)

and a some scissors

Step 1. First locate your glove box and empty it out for easier access

Step 2. Under your glove box will be TWO screws (one on each side) that will be holding the glove box in place. Remove the two screws with your ratchet or spinner. Thus letting your glove box drop.

Step 3. After the glove box is out, you will see the opening compartment. Which will allow you access to the cabin filter. Squeeze in the sides and the filter holder will slide out.

Step 4. Take out the old filter (mines is still new) and size it with the new air condition filter. Taking your scissors cut to size with the old filter. Trimming off the sides to make sure it fits the filter holder. (you can leave the cardboard peice on the filter or take it off your choice, I left it on and it just gives a better support)

Step 5. After everything is done, assemble everything and you're good to go.

i doubt that the filter you just added will be comparable to the stock filter...looks alot bigger and airy....

Those home a/c filters are usually 30 day filters. 3 months max, I change mine every 30days and this is in a house, so I doubt it's effectiveness in an auto environment subjected to dirty outside air at speed, but to each his own I guess

so can you just buy a filter that actually fits at like a honda dealership? its probably seriously overpriced i would guess.
