JDM Valve Cover

I saw that 954_K20 did the swap, but I have a few questions. It was recently brought to my attention that the K20z3 cover has 3 additional bolt holes on the right side of the cover. 1 on the side near the crank breather outlet and 2 on the same side but just pass the spark plug "valley".

The JDM cover (and every other K valve cover including the Z1) doesn't have these bolt holes.

What are you guys doing to reattch yout stuff?

Pics:

Comments or suggestions?

I haven't done this yet, but are those holes just to attach brackets or are the to hold down the valve cover? It looks like from the pictures that they are just there to hold on brackets for other wirring harnesses and such. If that is the case you can most likely get away with wire tying the harness to another existing harness or bracket.

Yeah, they're just brackets. I was just wondering what people were doing to remedy the differences.

well here's 954K20_SI's valve cover

and here's his post about installing the valve cover
Swapped a Type-R motor in my Si..check it out.

he really didn't give a direct answer about what he did with those bolts. try PMing him and asking what he did. but let us know when you find the answer because i too plan on swapping my valve cover for the DC5R sometime in the near future.

good luck

yes those are, but i haven't had any issues.
There's the official answer. Not a direct swap bolt wise, but doesn't cause any issues either.

We are here at 8thCivic.com, where we've secretly replaced the real JDM valve cover with Folgers Crystals. Let's see if anyone can tell the difference.

It's funny, it's called a "J's Racing Valve Cover"...it's a Honda valve cover that's been powder coated (not even masked off I might add...) and then being sold as theirs.

No cool mods to it, it's just a powder coated cover...insane.

The REAL cover does come with the sticker. (pictured) The cover is around $350-$400. The DC5-R cover is $150-$200.

I've done the swap. Looking back at it, it wasn't worth the money, or the time it took to remove the cowl and everything to get it on. It is cool looking, but serves no performance purpose. But, the silver is super ugly.

As far as the extra bolt holes, They are for brackets. I just let them hang. It doesn't seem to cause an issue at all, but may scratch the valve cover at some point. I'll go take a few pics in a minute.
