Well I haven't seen a Do it your self yet on using stained glass color yellow on fog lights so I thought it would be good to make one for anyone who's interested! This DIY is a very simple and fun way of giving your fog lights a better look, and takes away using lamin X yellow that most people prefer to use.
Materials needed:
1 Philips screw driver
1 Can of Krylon Stained glass yellow (Can be purchased at Micheal's Arts & Craft Store) Web-link of can:Krylon 6 oz Yellow Stained Glass Color - 9024
1 Windex and paper cloth
Okay, so here is my work station lol! A fortune cookies box, the stained glass spray, screwdriver, and fog lights!
Okay, now that my workstation is organized lol! Here is a up close picture of the stained glass paint I will be using.
Now that your organized, you will need to use the Philips screwdriver to remove the fog lights from the bumper & then remove the 3 screws that holds the bracket into place on the plastic fog light cover.
After you have removed the fog lights from the plastic cover, it should look like this.
Now that its off the cover, you will need to clean the fog lights with Windex or any kind of glass cleaner to remove any road debris, dust, etc. After you have finished cleaning the fog lights, It is now ready to get painted!
Now, what you are going to do is shake the can vigorously for 2 minutes and hold the can away 10-12inches from the fog lights. You will be doing light even sprays and doing 2 coats for the first spray. It should start to look like a light yellow like this.
Now after you waited 30 minutes for that to dry, you will begin to spray your next coat on. I did 5 more coats on it to give it more of a light/dark yellow. And please beware, the more coats that you keep spraying on the darker the color yellow will become. And spraying more coats then what I recommend can cause the paint to start to run and drip, and that's the last thing you want to happen! Here are the pictures after I did 5 coats.
Now that everything dried after 30 minutes, your final product should look like this. And remember, people have preferences on how they want there fog light to look, so I did a light/dark fog light. Nothing to crazy looking, but something clean and efficient. Here's the picture.
Here is a picture of the light output! My car has 10k hids low beam & Fog lights are 3k extreme yellow hids.
