Thanks for the great DIY. Just got mine installed today. The shifts are much better compared to stock shifter.

Anyone else have a problem with unlocking the shift linkage? I got mine loosened and put the new shifter in but it seems like my passenger side doesn't wanna lock. The hook is behind the tab but if you turn it counter clockwise it's easy to unlock now.

Apparently, the author was incorrect in designating a clockwise motion on the passenger side shift cable lock.

BOTH are counter clock wise.

On the passenger side shift cable lock, turn the lower end lock (block shape) COUNTER-clockwise gently until the neck of the lock lifts up slightly through the hole.

The driver side is the same, COUNTER-clockwise. Both can be done without tools and by hand, the reason people were having issues with the passenger side is because the author said CLOCKWISE.

OP, please update instructions, many people will damage the lock. Luckily, I only damaged the tip of the stopper and slightly scraped the block lock piece from using a vise grip.

The reason it was difficult for the passenger side turning the lock clockwise is because force was being applied to the stopper piece of the lock, it is a tiny little plastic that bumps with a small plastic square to designate the lock is in place.

Thanks for the DIY. I put it in as soon as it got here. It was a fast, easy install. What helped to break the tension of the shift cable lock was a lanyard.
