Yeah I'm not an electrical expert either. If I'm honest, I know just enough to be dangerous. But I know enough to always use a relay unless the amperage draw is super super low.

Like, I don't use relays for gauges...

its probably a good idea to use one...i just like to know the reasoning behind everthing i do... .like i said i bought one, but got ahead of myself when i seen the light at the end of the install tunnel. and said screw it im driving tonight!

Definitely a good idea to use one. not 100 % needed but good idea and extra protection.

One of the things not talked about is the power surge created by the pump. You will find quickly that blowing a 10+ amp fuse is not hard at times with the pump.

This pump drives the impeller via magnetic forces. No direct shaft is used thus the amperage used during normal operation is pretty stable and within a range.
