Go to the parts department. Be cool with them, they'll hook you up. My guy did anyways.

I used a Dremel. Imagine the valet key in quarters (4 parts) across the plastic. Cut the edges, and work your way into the middle. The transponder is actually protected by a little enclosed capsule. There is a picture somewhere in this thread of how the valet key looks with the plastic cut off.

Peel away the plastic, pop out the capsule, open it up, and transponder!

I do not have the tools...or patience...to solder off and rewire my new flip key, is there anybody semi local who would be able to help me out with this?

I'm in the West Covina, CA area.

I got my key cut and it works it fits fine with the doors, trunk and ignition. But the only problem Im having is starting the car. I started the car and it would stay on for about 2 seconds and then the engine shuts off and a green key light shows up on the dashboard. I read that it could be problem with the immobilizer/transponder. Later, I took the chip with the buttons, battery, etc out and placed it right on top of the shell of the key and tried starting the car like that and it worked. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to fix it? I was wondering could a low battery in the key affect this at all? I saw this DIY forum and havent tried anything like that yet.
Late reply but maybe this can help you. Inside of the key fob there is a circuit board with the lock/unlock buttons and an immobilizer chip. This chip is programmed to be recognized by your car. When you place your key in the ignition, the chip is close enough to be read by a sensor in your steering column and allows the car to start and run. If the chip is too far away, it cannot be read, and your car will start but will soon shut off. The flip key cases are longer than the single key fob case, placing the immobilizer chip too far away to be read, hence your engine shutting off. If you look at the inside of the flip key case, there is actually a small recess to place a new immobilizer chip, putting it close enough to the sensor to be recognized. This is why people are cutting and soldering chips into their flip key cases. You will need to do the same to prevent your engine from shutting off. I found using the wireless immobilizer chip from my valet key was the easiest method because it doesn't involve soldering, however I did have to do some cutting.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply. I used my Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel. If you don't have one, you could use a knife, which might take a long time. Heating the knife up would also work. You could also use a hack saw.

You actually don't have to do any soldering with your new flip key. But you will have to use a wireless immobilizer chip from your valet key. And to use that, you'll have to cut away the key to get the chip inside. It's just an alternative method to soldering.

so i took the transponder off with nothing more than an xacto knife, then did the soldering just to wire in the transponder. i tested it just with the stock key and it seemed to work fine. im going to get it cut tomorrow!

Got my key cut at the dealer. The parts guy mentioned to me that these keys use a different, harder material than the factory key so he wasn't sure it would cut properly. It cut just fine, however it took me working it in and out of the lock cylinder 25-30 times before it would fully seat and actually start the car, which it did the first time I actually got it to turn.

Couldn't be happier, one of those mods no-one will notice until that one guy that does and freaks out and says that is the coolest thing ever haha.

just did mine, went with the fob just like the one in the DIY. I didn't want to solder so i took out the wireless transponder from the valet key and put that wireless transponder along with a untouched circuit board with buttons from one of the masters keys into the flip key case. I also asked the seller to send me a red h instead of black and the seller sent me 2. I then called several dealers around my area and all of them wanted $75 to just cut the key -_- so I called one dealer 35 min away from me and got it done for $10. Overall very satisfied and this only cost me $22 .

2 things I want to mention

1) Having the wireless transponder and the original chip with the soldered transponder in the flip key case doesn't interfere with anything what so ever.

2) When I went to the dealer to cut the key, the first time after they cut it, the key wouldn't go in the drivers side door, the 2nd time they cut it, it also wouldn't go down the drivers side door. So they gave me a piece of sandpaper to try to see whats up. I sanded away the tip of the key just like the original, it helped but the key didn't go in after 10 min of sanding and testing. So I said to myself you know what? let me see if it works in the ignition and it did! My point is, if they key doesn't fit in the drivers door, sand it a bit based on where its needed and it should fit in the ignition. After a period of time where you keep taking the key in and out of the ignition it should work in the drivers side door as well.

Do all our cars have a valet key wit a wireless transponder?

FML, finally got it, used the valet key trick, worked perfect, went to my dealership and got the key cut for free because he was happy he didn't have to program it.

from the same one most of you said on here, I sent them a message, and it had been sitting forgotten in the mail depot over there. no fault to the company I bought it from. they put it on a plane and sent it out. which was nice.
