^^The used car was cheap. Bought it from a private seller. He only had 1 key which I can live with that since a total cost for the key+program is around $130-$150 if the car is priced right. As long as the price is about the price I'm willing to pay, I don't care if there's only 1 key or not as long as other stuff are still original/stock

I got the key in the mail yesterday but haven't found anywhere to cut it yet. I tried two ACE stores by me and they said they did not have the machine for it. I tried two locksmiths and one said their machine was broken and the other wouldn't guarantee it and wanted $45

Scratch that. My dealership quoted me at $5 or $10 for the cut. But FML I had the bag that came with the H logo three screws, button, and spring in my coat pocket this morning and when I got to work it was not there. So now all I have is the shell and blank key. Looks like I will have to order another key if I want to do this

Yeah it blows but I did the rest of the DIY and put it together without the screws. I am going to have the dealership cut the key tonight or tomorrow morning and find out if it works. If it does I'll just order the new one and the hard part is done. I will just need to put the parts in the new key when it comes.

Yeah I wish. I think I dropped it at the first place I went to this morning. So I am going to give them a call to see if anyone found it but I checked my car and apt already and one of the lock places. At least it is only $20. First I have to see if the dealership will really cut it for $5 and if it works.

How about asking for the parts you lost?

Well the bad luck continues. The dealership actually cut the key for free which was awesome....except it doesn't work. Idk if it is the key or the guy who cut it messed up. The part that is cut is definitely wider than the original key. I can't get it all the way into the ignition or door. It goes in far enough to start beeping that the door is open and key is in ignition as well as light up the dash but it does not go the rest of the way in and I can not get it to turn. Im giving up on the project. Not worth spending $20 again if the key doesn't work.

The part of the DIY about moving the transponder was awesome so props to that it was easy to follow. Looks like I'll settle for the stock key for now.

What key did you get? If you got the key from dsp.store it's the guys fault. Stop settling. Ask someone else to re-cut it if the key is wider. Make that guy pay for the key.

Ya people that have the machine to cut it should know how to use it. Still not sure how people can not guarantee their work. I'll hopefully find someone to cut the key.

Honda dealer is fail. It Didnt work after they cut it. Its an auto cutter to so all he does is put first key on and it scans it. Take first Key off put second on and cut. The cut is real close but just off. I'll see if i can find another place to cut it then order another one.

Once again, their problem. Make them pay for the key. I don't get why you guys don't grow some balls and standup for yourselves..

Is this a hit or miss thing? Even dealer have problems duplicating the key. I already ordered the key. I guess I'll try my luck with ace hardware, since the op got his key cut there. Hehehe

if the dealer had issues cutting the key either the guy who was running the machine screwed up or the blank you got exceeded the specs of the normal blank

They key shouldn't be a problem. I doubt that it's the key's fault.

I tried 3 Honda dealers and no one would guarantee any key cutting unless I buy the key from them. They would not charge for the cut if it didn't work obv. Tried the local ACE but they don't cut those keys. Will have to find someone else.
