Streaks From Rolling Down Window?
Hey all,
I have a problem that every time I roll down my windows on the passenger side I get these streak marks left on the inside of the car window. Each time when I clean it I still get them after I roll them down again. Any suggestions of why this might be or how I can clean the inside where the window goes down into. Btw this never happens with the drivers side. Thanks for any input. |

i live in New Orleans so we get alot of rain and i can't always wash my car as often as i like. My solution? I don't roll the windows down if the dust seals are wet. And in case i have to, i keep a clean microfiber cloth in my console. The secret is to get the streaks off before they dry.

you want weird? My mom's '06 MDX gets these streaks on the inside of the windows that harden like someone dumped sugar down them. I'm pretty sure the reason why the sedan's windows streak on the inside has to do with the way that the dust seal also contacts the midget windows' glass, theoretically allowing water to seep aft of the doorjamb and into the inside seal. dunno about the coupe though

Have you had your windows tinted recently?
If so, i'm guessing it's the same thing that happened to me. You know the rubber "lips" that are at the bottom of the windown sil, the part the window exits when you're rolling it up? Well those "lips" (we'll call them outer lips) are not the only pair on your window. About another inch down inside the door is another pair of "lips" (we'll call them inner lips). When my tint job got done, they guy's had used some sort of tool to tuck my tint down below the outer lip line. In the process, they had folded over that set of inner lips so that instead of the smooth soft felt comming into contact w/the window it was grippy rubber & it made a mean noise when I rolled up the window and left residue on the window EVERY TIME i rolled it up. Long story short, I put a microfiber cloth over a screw driver & forced it into the corner of the inner lip & slid it along the glass to unfold that inner lip so that the felt once again came into contact w/the window. Problem solved. T. |
