Angry Window Cleaning

Let's me start by saying I love having a clean car. My only downfall is cleaning the windshield. I have cleaned it (the inside) four times and it still looks like crap. Plus on this car the area above the speedo is a pain too. I'm just wondering what some people use and how you do it. I've heard about using newspaper. Does that work? And if it does what kind of cleaner do you use with it.

I use an almost dry microfiber towel, it works perfectly. I obsess about having crystal clear windows and out of all the things i've tried, it's what works best for me. As for the area just about the speedo, i kind of put the towel over my fingers, kind of like a glove, and use my fingertips to clean it.

The only thing that I have found that works on windshields (interior) is 1 part distilled white vinegar to 3 parts water, use sparingly, and use a microfiber.

Most people are used to drowning the window with windex, but the less of that mix you use the better your results will be.

I use this tool to get the glass above the speedometer. It has 3 different bonnets for cleaning. Got it at Griot's Garage. I use Stoner's Glass Cleaner. Simply the best there is. Spray some lightly on the window and scrub with one of the the three attachments.

^^ Same, I use Stoner's Glass cleaner and that stuff is simply amazing. Also use a newspaper to apply it since it goes on perfectly. Every once and a while I throw on some Rain-x windshield cleaner because it makes water bead up very nicely

I use Armor Alls window cleaner for years and it does an awesome job. Just be sure to use a clean paper towel each time, don't reuse.

Newspaper to clean windows? Never would've thought that worked. I use Stoners and a couple of Bounty.

I'm cheap, so I used a spatula instead.

^ I've thought about that as well. Just wrap a microfiber cloth around the end and viola.

Works so well man. I used to use MF towels, but they were cheap and left fuzz everyone. Newspaper leaves nothing behind except clear glass

Windex and paper towels, but I don't spray a lot of windex on the window I don't let the paper towels get wet

If you don't have tint and have some stains of fingerprints that don't want to come off....untreated steel wool works well.

Spray Windex on windows then some steel wool then dry. You can call me crazy but this is the best way to clean the front windshield on the outside.

I'm assuming you use a fine steel wool?

Yea, fine steel....I am still waking up.

I used to do the detailing at a dealership and we used that and razor blades to clean windows from scum and bugs

Invisible Glass (aerosol can) and newspaper. I'd like to note something however about using newspaper. The main benefit is that it doesn't leave nearly as much lint as paper towels do. However, merely using newspaper won't necessarily give you a "streak-free shine." The secret is that you keep wiping the glass until there's no brief streak trailing the paper. Streaking is caused when you leave too much cleaner on the glass.
HINT: if you're going to try newspaper beware of a few things: 1) on light-interior sedans, be careful when cleaning the midget windows up front as the ink will come off on the panels there. Same thing with the C-pillar and the rear glass 2) Do the windows last and watch where you put your hands. The ink will blacken your hands and it comes off on anything you touch

I use the same exact tool, with Stoners and some newspaper to dry anything else up. Thats the best combo I have found so far.
