Detailing Questions

Well i've been searching all day and coming up with different thoughts and ideas on what the best way to make my car look better. I am in need of a good detailing. My hood is covered in cobwebs due to resorting to automated car washes because I do not have a driveway to do it in. I am asking the experts if this combo should be a good start to my success:

Porter Cable 7424
Meguiars NXT Car Wash
Polish - Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover
Glaze - Meguiars #7 Deep Gloss
Sealant - Meguiars #20
Carnauba Wax - Meguiars #26

Perfect. You have exactly what you need. Attack the cobwebs with the PC and the #9 swirl remover. If you still have the cobwebs, you may need a slightly more abrasive polish.

Next, use the #7 Show Car Glaze, followed by the #20 Sealant and then top it off with the #26 Carnauba wax. Meguiar's makes fabulous products and I know you will be happy with the results. As always, please post pics and feedback once you are done so that we can all admire your car. We love shiny cars here on 8th Gen. You are on the right road.

If you choose not to get that training DVD for the PC at least look on youtube for some how to videos...though the DVD is much better. A lot of people don't know the correct process for using the polisher and they are left with poor results. You need to keep your work area small, move at the right speed, apply the correct amount of pressure and know when the diminishing abrasives have broken down. The DVD covers all this and LOTS more.

Good luck!

Well said Chad. There are great tutorials out there. People often get disillusioned when they don't see the results they are looking for. A lot has to do with technique. That is why I feel your meet in June will be so valuable to so many people interested in keeping their cars looking new.

Yep! It's 2.5 hrs long and covers a lot of good info. You can still get it at ADS.
