I noticed that if you DONT shake the bottle before using it, the color is darker. I originally shook it to touch something up and the touch up was lighter than the rest of the car. Today... a month later... I redid it without shaking the bottle and it's a little better match. It's darker now to match the rest of my GG civic. You still notice the spot in the shade, but in sunlight, its undetectable.

Try it. Let the bottle sit for a couple hours, DONT SHAKE, open it up and look at the brush. See how dark the paint is. Now shake it, and look at the color.

You sure you gave it enough shakes before applying? Just thought I'd ask...

You might not have given you the right one. When i got mine they had to check a sticker on the inside of my door because he said there are different versions on the NHBP.

i found that out after checking the number even though it was correct....yet again i do have a GG....

Anyways.....I order paint from a site called Expresspaint.com and the paint matched perfectly!! But I didn't order the touch up paint....I ordered the Aerosol cans and did a whole 1/4 my rear HFP lip and it matched perfectly. At first it will appear dull, but after you sand with 1000 grit sandpaper and blend it in with polish and all the good stuff you can't even notice it. Just an idea. if you want some pics i'll be happy to show ya.

shaking it makes the GG touch-up too light. Not shaking it makes it darker... matching the original paint.

I will try without shaking it. Just like you said, after shaking it, the paint looks like Silver Metallic instead of GG. Thx

You are right about this. I found out that the paint code is the same but the location where the Civics were made makes a different on color match. Thx

Let us know how it goes ... I'm in need of some touch up paint as well. The bottle of touch up that I purchased from the dealership does not even come close to matching GG.

Ok well here are the pics.

Before
in these pics you can see the three deep scratches that i had and the touch up paint i used from the dealership. I only did the really big one so for, which was last tuesday. Hope these help.

After Notice you can't see the biggest scratch that I had, but above you can see the two others. The only problem is that when I did this I forgot to use primer like an idiot so you can see where it use to be....

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks!! lol but you can tell i didn't use primer. But hope that helps and remember this is from a Spray can so the touch up pen that they have is probably alot more accurate so you won't have to really tape and worry about any other part of the car getting painted.

The reason is appears off is largely due to how you're putting it on. If you had the means to wet-sand it and polish it smooth, it'd match a lot better.

Are you talking about the paint job in my pics? Well if you are than yes i know about the wet sand and polishing it, i have to wait 5 days until i can do so, i would have done it today, but as you can see it was raining. But thanks

But if your talking about the one from the honda dealership then it really doesn't matter what you do, alot of times it still wont match, whether you wet sand or polish.

I'm not an expert and am only going on my memory of an experience I had quite a few years ago. At the time I had a 2000 Pontiac GTP in a champagne color. I bought some touchup paint that was the matching color. I remember it saying that you needed to apply a clear coat after the base coat was dry or it would appear a shade or two light. True to it's word the basecoat when dry did appear lighter, but once I used some clear touch up paint it evened it out. Just a thought.

That makes no sense to me since clearcoat is designed to be a protective coat over the basecoat, how would clearcoat added into the base work?
