Thumbs up NHBP Full Detail PICS - Clay, Polish, Glaze, Wax

First off, HUGE thanks to Bill (NitrousG35) for answering lot of my questions and being such a God to this board. What would we all do without you??

So if you own a NHBP, you know it's a BISH to keep looking good. Honda paint blows, and black shows EVERY imperfection. I finally got sick of washing my ride and hating how horrible it looked, so I decided to take a day and rub her the right way.

This is the stuff I used (micro fiber towells and applicator pads not pictured):

-Started of by washing the car with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash
-Then used a Zaino Clay Bar on the whole car
-Then applied one coat of Meguiar's Scratch X to the whole car to eliminate some swirls and light scratches
-Then polished the whole car with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish
-Then glazed the whole car with Meguiar's #7 Professional Show Car Glaze
-Then finished up with Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 Liquid Wax

And this is what the car looked like at 11am when I started:

And at 6pm, after over 6 hours of work and 2 sore ass arms, here's the finished product (lighting could be better):

100% improvement. The paint actually looks "blacker". Weird, I know. And the paint is OH SO SILKY SMOOOOOOTH This was much overdue and I am definitely going to keep up on in more now. Well worth the effort and day spent to do it. And I HIGHLY recommend this same array of products for anyone looking to bring back that like new luster to their paint

You scratch-xed the WHOLE CAR by hand?! DAMN lol. I was trying to rub out this one little scratch above my gas cap and my shoulders were about to give lol. You should get one of those buffer thingamabobs

Yeah, the whole car needed the Scratch X. That part took the longest. And I was gonna get a buffer, but I know I woulda f'd something up if I tried that.

Oh yeah, that is beautiful Ryan. Your paint has tremendous depth and gloss to it. It is a great feeling when you do a job like this yourself. You have the satisfaction of knowing that your own hard work has brought about such tremendous results.

I must say that I have a certain affinity for NHBP FG2's. They look like Stealth fighters. Your wheels really complement the paint as well. I am happy for you and am pleased that the products you used gave the results you were looking for. You have a car to be very proud of. You are maintaining the reputation of 8th Gen Civics!

Thanks again Bill. For the tips, and your magical way with words. LOL

VQ Power and I have done our black G35 entirely by hand with Scratch X. It is a lot of work, but it can do wonders on a black car. It definetly is easier using a random orbital buffer with the right pads. Makes short work of polishing, sealing and waxing.

What impressed me though was the degree of shine that Yo Nadz got just by doing it by hand. He used the right products and the results speak for themselves.

One product that I cannot recommend enough on a black car is Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze. I have been using it for 30 years and it always has made my black cars shine like they were new. It does a great job of hiding scratches and adding nourishment to the paint. You can clearly see the depth in Yo Nadz's paint after using it.

And that's no lie. In person it looks like a totally different car. The color is ridiculously deep and so much more black. I absolutely could not believe it when I pulled it into the sun and got out and admired.

Looks great! Reason I bought a GGM is because I bet that shine only lasts 5 hours before a film of dust accumulated on it! I do miss how sexy a black car looks clean tho! Good job!

I'd love to get details on how you applied/buffed out the Scratch X...

How long did you let it sit, etc...

Car looks absolutely amazing.
