Question Removing Swirls on NHBP Si

My 2006 Si has swirls that are now visible enough to really be annoying. My local detailer wants $150. to do the car. I would actually rather do it myself if someone would let me know the proper steps. Obviously, wax alone hasn't worked. Also, I live in a very dusty rural area, which has probably contributed to my problem now. Any help out there?

Scott, get yourself a Porter Cable and a couple of Lake Country or Meguiar's pads. I got my PC on sale and for the $150 your detailer wants, you could have your own machine, pads and use some Meguiar's polishing compound.

I would highly suggest you get some Meguiar's #7 Show Car glaze. It nourishes the paint and hides scratches and swirls. Use after polishing the paint.

There are great tutorials on the Meguiar's site as well as Detailing University. I have links in the Mother of all detailing thread.

Scratch X is a great product and maybe the OP should try it first. If the results are not what he wants, then he can ante up for a PC and pads. I use Scratch X a lot on my black G35 and it does wonders.

Have already tried Scratch-X, with disappointing results. I'm thinkin' Nitrous is right, and I need to go that route. I'll check out aPorter Cable and pads. THanks, guys

I wish. If I had the money to own a P-51, I would probably be a frequent visitor on the Ferrari F430 forum or the Lamborghini Murcielago forum.
