Putting floor mat in washing machine?

Is it okay to just put a cloth floor mat in the washing machine to clean it? Maybe I just got bad luck in the past but from experience, I'm not a big fan of carpet cleaners...

I wouldn't think so. I think the washing machine would probably tear up the stuff on the bottom of the mat. Carpet cleaner is the way to go. If they get really dirty it takes several applications, but with enough work they will get clean.

Why not just take it to a car wash and pressure wash it down? When you are done you vacuum it off with a wet vac then hang it to dry. Most coin opps have hooks on the walls for matts.

well my girlfriend spilled a slurpee right upside down on the floor so there's this big shit-brown stain. I don't think pressure washing would work...

and carpet cleaners...I haven't done it with this car yet (still pretty new) but with my old car, I tried to clean up some dark stains, but it lightened the color of the fabric so that instead of black stains I had almost white spots. I don't know what carpet cleaner it was...but is there one that you guys would recommend?

I clean all my customer floor matts by first vacuuming them off, pre-treating them with a cleaner and then pressure washing them off. Follow up with a wet-vac. Most cleaners found in auto part stores should be safe for the fabric. I've never had one bleach out the color of carpet.

Try this stuff.

FYI. I don't know if a stain from a slurpee will even come out....I know Kool-Aid is pretty much permanent. What color was it?

^ Agree with kool aid. It's harder to get out than blood. Believe me, I got blood on my trunk lining and that was easier to get out compared to the kool aid (blue) I spilled in the back seat of my old car.

It was a coke slurpee...so it's pretty brown. the floor mat is grey.

lol man hunting or he shot a deer and stuck it into the back of his lx to take it home.

you can also try at home..its what i did on my old floor mats on my maxima it worked out pretty well..

soak the mats with a hose on shower or soaker or jet or w.e. and use a hard <non flimsy de icer tool> ya know the scraper tools that get ice off of ur cars. and just de water the floor mats and repeat until its bling bling cleannn
1. wet mat
2. use ice scraper to clean it by push all the water out / scrubbing :)

Coke should come out real easy. Did it get on the actual carpet too or just the floor matt?

These work pretty good too for the money. It has a built in heater too. I use it around the house and on customer cars that are high end at fairly clean.

it's just the floor mat itself that got it, the carpet is fine.
I think I will try the soaking/scraper method first to see if it does anything...

lol well, no I didn't. But she got some on her pants too, and she got upset that I was more worried about my floor matt than her pants. That should be enough for her to learn

If its still stained look for a product called Folex, great stuff. I usually get it at Home Depot. You can find it in the floring area.

no actually it's all good. I found a carpet cleaner around the house, mixed it in with warm water and scrubbed at it with a brush. I got most of it off, there's just a spot that I missed that I'll have to redo. it looked perfectly clean when it was wet, but then it dried and I saw I missed some...oh well.

not all the models have a built in heater, I have one that does not have a built in heater (they did not have the model out with the heater in it yet), you have to put hot water in it to get out water out of it, make sure you make sure you get the right one when you buy it, they all look exactly the same.

Haha.

Did you tell her that the floormats probably cost more than her pants?
