Because so many threads have been created recently that have been addressed in this thread, I am bumping it up. There have been quite a few questions about sealants and waxes and the steps that ensue.

Hey bro, I just picked up glaze #7 and wolfgang sealant for myself.
here quick questions before I apply.
When do you buff off glaze?? it says dont let it dry, is it true? isnt it suppost to buff it off after it dried? and same question for wolfgang as well. Thanks!

For sure, you want to begin taking the #7 off after it has been applied. If you let it dry, it is the worst stuff to take off I have ever experienced with any product. Apply it to a section, immediately take a microfiber towel and begin removing it. Flip the towel over repeatedly, so that the towel does not load up with the glaze. Buff with a clean towel.

For the Wolfgang, let it dry completely. Sealants need to set up before being removed. Once the sealant has set up, use your fingertip to wipe the surface. If the sealant wipes away and it begins to look shiny underneath, it is time to remove the sealant. Use a microfiber towel to remove all sealant and follow up with a clean, mf towel to bring out the shine.

You will be amazed by the results. Keep me posted on how everything is going. I am kind of excited to see the results.

This thread has got to be one of the most useful threads I have read in quite some time! Thanks to Nitrous, Silicon and Rasky again!

Just this afternoon, I bought a Porter Cable 7424 with Lake Country pads and a few Pinnacle products, so this just makes me feel even better about my purchase!

I have a problem with swirl marks, so I bought XMT Intermediate Swirl Remover #3, XMT Ultra Fine Swirl Remover #1, XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze, and Pinnacle SouveränT Paste Wax. I already have Zaino Z6 Gloss Enhancer to finish off with. Do you guys recommend anything else?

Congrats on your purchase of the Porter Cable. You will love it. The thing I like about it is you can get a professional level shine w/o worrying about damaging the paint. You will enjoy the Lake Country pads too. I have quite a few in different colors-abrasiveness, and they do a tremendous job in polishing and waxing.

The products you recommended sound great for the swirls. I am not familiar with XMT, but I am sure it is a good company. The Pinnacle and Zaino should really make your paint pop. When you get done, post some pics. Also, could you post pics of your products so that others can have a look-see?

Please. I want to see pics. Do us 8th Gen people proud at HIN!

BTW, Rasky is the expert on this site. As an analogy, I would say I am the amateur basketball player playing streetball while Rasky is the 7'6" NBA superstar who slam dunks, does 3 pointers all day long and scores 50 points a game. I have been to Rasky's house and believe me, he is on a completely different level from most of us. In fact, I would say he is in an entirely different universe. His knowledge, skill and ability to know what to do in the worst situations is what separates him from the rest of us mere mortals.

I am adding tehcodeman's detailing job both to this post and the first post I made as the results are so stunning, they are worth repeating:

I just followed the "Mother of all detailing threads" and here are my results:

^see? no swirls!

^a little more light to show the shine

Well I don’t know if I’d go quite that far but thanks Bill!

While I may be able to turn poo into gold you and Josh have definitely impressed me with your ability to keep your cars looking better than new and you both have an excellent understanding of the detailing process.

I definitely can't wait for the June meet. You and Josh should come over early and we can do the wax comparison before everyone else shows up. That way we will be the only ones that know which section has been waxed with the different waxes....best way to get a non-bias opinion right?

sup bro, My car is almost getting done with details.
heres my one last question, Rasky told me it would be pointless to use NXT tech wax after my wolfgang sealant. so I'm kinda stuck on what to do. I got done with everything (wash, wax, paint cleaner, polish, sealant) and paint seems really nice and smooth.
so heres my question, What do you think I should do? should I just go ahead and put wax top of sealant or just leave it as it is? btw. Thank you so much for the DIY. It really helped me and car look brand new now

Here is an excellent write up on maintaining your finish between polishing sessions.

Actually I said that I don’t know if you would see a benefit in using both WG and NXT as they are both synthetic sealants. Sorry if you miss understood.

It would make more sense to top the WG with a carnauba like Meguiars #26, P21S, Natty's paste wax...

(Typically)
Synthetic Sealants = Durability
Carnauba = high gloss, depth and beauty.

Rasky

This is probably the only one of those 3 listed that you can find in local stores.

Hi-Tech Yellow Wax M2601 Product Information

I know #26 smells good but you can't eat it!

Rasky, just curious -- you said your current favorite wax is NXT 2.0. Any reason in particular why you favor it over #26? I've used both and so far I like them equally.

NXT 2.0 seems to hold up a little longer. I have yet to do a side by side comparison though so it's just speculation right now. I agree....both are very good.
