how can i clean my rusty drum?

i'm not sure this is the right post here,,but yeah simple question..or stupid..
today i put my new wheel(black) on my car(black). it looks okay but not perfectly what i expected. i guess it's because of the rear rusty drum.
i'm still hesitating to paint the drum in black..but my ppl say don't...
well, then are there any ways to clean the dirty and rusty drum??

Compressed Air, a wire brush, then spray with paint.

The ideal way to do it is to have it media blasted, cleaned w/ wax and grease remover, and then painted.

yeah, everyone that I've talked to says not to paint the rear drums. I think black would be fine...it'll be much better than rust. I'll probably be doing it over the summer.

high temp and a flat black would look good.

I did this on my zx2, it lasted ok but i didn't do it right I just painted over the rust.

Make sure you get a wire wheel and clean off all the rust first then get a prep product to degrease, then use a high temp primer in many light coats followed by a high temp flat dark grey or black high temp paint in many light coats.

Oh and mask off the car if your gonna do it while the drums are on the car I prefer to remove things like this for painting purposes.

Oh and make sure the paint is 100% dry before remounting your wheels.

just sand them down to bare metal so that theres no rust, clean good with brake cleaner and paint them flat black. dont do glossy on drums looks weak imo

the paint wont stick if you try to paint over the rust...itll just peel
do it right the first time so you dont have to constantly do it
