Exhaust depositing residue on my rear bumper / trunk paint.

I was washing my 2007 Black SI today and noticed that the plastic bumper near the exhaust and, to a lesser extent, the passenger side rear part of my trunk has a matted weathered look and is rough to the touch. Given the location, I suspect that this is due to exhaust fumes. I spend about 5 to 10 mins day idling in traffic.

Is anybody else experiencing this? Maybe it's due to the gas I am using?

Also, anybody have suggestions to remove this residue?

Works everytime for me when I need to remove the carbon buildup off the TW bumper because of my BCRH.

i think you might look into your fuel source. Residue from gasoline engines tends to go down, staining the tips or any flush bodywork. I sit in traffic every day about the same amount daily too. Granted i have an LX, but the only time you usually see exhaust residue going UP is on older diesels especially like 70's era Mercedes, older (badly-maintained) Mitsubishis and other bad-maintenance victims. Diesel stains b/c the nasty goes up with the exhaust gasses (and b/c there's alot more than with petrol) and neglected cars get it for any number of reasons.
