help :'(
So I took off my rear Honda emblem and I found out that the dealer put some sort of glue on there. It was really hard to take off and when I finally did there was a lot of hardened glue left on the paint. Anyone know how to get rid of it? Its REALLY hard.

3M makes a professional grade product that removes adhesives. It is designed for automotive paint. I used it on my car when removing the Civic emblem.

I actually didn't have goo gone or a heat gun, so I used small amounts of lighter fluid and a micro-fiber cloth. that seemed to work as well, although I would suggest something made specifically not to damage automotive paint first.

What the hell does "pfft" mean? I am just trying to help. First off if you bought a new trunk it would not come painted- NO replacement sheetmetal parts come painted except a few trim pieces. And secondly, the new trunk lid would still have the "H" holes in it. Like I said the first time- If you want to get rid of the holes and have the trunklid repainted your better off fixing the one you have to begin with. Now, since the sedans have a trim piece the runs the whole width of the trunk lid, you may save some $$ by having the shop create a paint line underneath the trim piece, which would save having to clear the entire lid.... What most shops will do is scuff down the trunk lid paint/feather the paint over the repaired area, and then reclearcoating the trunk lid....If you put new paint on the entire trunk lid then you run the chance with not matching the paint with the existing paint on the quarter panels...And with honda's metallic paint, it would not match well if they did..... GOOD LUCK! POST PICS WHEN YOUR DONE!! |

im confused, did you remove the emblem just to clean under it or are you planning on keeping it off and filling the holes?
Either way a hairdryer worked fine for me. And i don't think the dealer put your emblems on, it came from the factory like that. |

Man, Dont be a douchebag.
Thats from the factory and not a problem with the dealer. Id say you could use some bug and tar remover, Or just razorblade and try to be careful. As its been stated- If you're just trying to shave the trunk lid id have the holes filled properly from a shop and have the trunk repainted. Then again- At the price of that i would rather just live with the honda H on the trunk. Or are you leaving it with the 2 holes in the trunk or replacing it with a jdm red honda emblem?. |
