film coat of construction/paint/dirt residue on SI

hello detailers. I just discovered a a film coat on the right passenger side of 07 SI. I did not notice it until after i washed my car. I felt the paint on my car and it felt like very very very very fine sand paper. maybe not even sand paper, but you can feel that it is not smearing smooth.

On my passenger headlight, i saw that it was faintly cloudy when i dried off my car. i look closer, and i use my fingernail to scratch off this film. It's cement color. the same kinda color that match an alabaster silver metallic si. nice. I recently (6 weeks ago) got my car out of the body shop to paint the whole left side (some lady hit my parked car in my lot). Weird thing is that the driver side (newly painted) is smearing smooth (smearing smooth = that sound that you hear when cleaning glass), and the passenger side is 'rough', but you couldn't tell by looking at it.

I was able to use my fingernail to scratch the residue off my lights but don't know how to get rid of the rest on the passenger side. Do anyone have recommendations? I am thinking if the body shop had anything to do with it, but a roughlike residue?

I was thinking of using dish washing liquid to wash the passenger side. i donno if there is something better i can do to remedy the problem. please help!. thanks

Clay bar.

Sounds like you have overspray on your car.

I was thinking of that too, but don't know if it would ruin my paint, maybe i'll try on a small area first, never done claybar, but i hear it's tiring, but does the job. Recommend any type of brand of claybar or product? Any other recommendations other than claybar? Thanks for the help!

Clay bar will not destroy your paint. Buy a kit that comes with quick detailer, and make sure you use plenty of it. They only way you can mess up is if you dont use enough QD or your drop the bar and then re use it. It is tiring...but worth it.
