You have to work it in, my dude. Apply it, rub with medium pressure for a minute until it turns clear .

Step 2 of the Deep Crystal line is a pure polish that has absolutely no cleaning properties and is not meant to remove scratches or swirls. Step 1 is for removing swirls and scratches.

On that note ScratchX is more effective at removing scratches than the Deep Crystal step 1.

...and to the above poster ScratchX does work very well when used properly but as with any light polish it has limitations.

so rasky i can use scratch x in place of the #1 paint cleaner correct. So then scratch x should be more effective correct, it will clean the paint and remove swirls, scratches etc better then #1 cleaner then i can move to step 2 right?

u dont neeed the polisher. And its outdated. You need to clay bar first then scratch-x. Then wax.

What color is your ride?

Wash
Clay
Cleaner/polish with ScratchX
Pure polish or glaze with DC2 or #7....#7 would be best.
2 thin coats of wax

= WET sexy shine

You should see a difference using #7 then. On lighter colors it is usually a step not worth doing.

On darker colors, this stuff is magical. It adds so much depth to the paint as well as essential oils. After you have done #7, the paint has a rich feel to it. I cannot imagine doing a black car w/o Meguiar's #7 Show car glaze. It simply does wonders to the paint before doing a sealant or a wax.

You will use the similar motion as waxing but you want to work in smaller sections at a time and you need to work it in one area long enough for the product to break down. If you use it like a wax it won't work or you won't see as good of results as you should.

You need to work it in long enough so that the product will turn from white to clear almost like you were rubbing Vaseline on the paint, that’s when you know it's broken down all the way and you can either move on to the next section or give another application if needed

Should a circular motion or back-and-forth motion be used to apply Scratch-X? What type of applicator should be used to work it into the paint?

Thanks.

A combination of both. I believe it comes with a foam applicator so use that. If you do a youtube search there is a good video out there which show's you how to use it properly.
