Rasky, I have a 08 civic in Galaxy Gray. I want to add the extra step of polishing it. Will the #7 be effective on my colour?

Thanks.

Most people won't notice a difference on a color that light. I couldn't see any on my Tungsten Grey Mazda.

Yeah there is no need to wash after using ScratchX.

Thanks, I'm lost with what exactly do i use so here is what I have:

Wash - Deep Crystal wash
Clay - meguiars clay kit
Cleaner/polish with ScratchX - I just have ScratchX..do i need a cleaner and polish as well?
Pure polish or glaze with DC2 or #7....#7 would be best - what in the world is this #7 stuff
2 thin coats of wax - NXT tech wax

Also, earlier in another thread you mention numbers as in products what are the numbers and product you talking about?

I had to edit this b/c I forgot another thing. What exactly is the "3 step polish" or 3 step something?

Thanks

The process you listed above is correct.

For Meguairs, a Cleaner/polish is defined as a product that removes swirls and light scratches. (ScratchX, DC1)

A Pure Polish (#7, DC2) is used to create a brilliant shine and gloss.

The numbers I was referring to are a part of Meguiars Deep Crystal Line. It's a 3 step system on their consumer line.

Step 1 (DC1) Cleaner/polish

Step 2 (DC2) Pure Polish

Step 3 (DC3) Carnauba Wax

Thank you so much. You are a great help.

So for the 3 step system instead of using DC1 and DC2 you would use the following since they do the same thing:

Step 1 ScratchX

Step 2 #7

Step 3 DC3 ..I currenlty have NXT tech wax, I hope that is as good or better

Is the above what you would recommend or would the DC1,2 and 3 be better?

As mentioned above I have Deep Crystal car wash, but before I had NXT car wash what are their differences?

Thanks again,

Max

Using the above process...ScratchX, #7, followed by NXT will give better results than the Deep Crystal line. I wouldn't be too concerned with the different car wash soaps, either one is fine.

Awesome !

I'm going to do as follows:

Wash - Deep Crystal wash
Clay - Meguiars Clay Kit
Cleaner/Polish -ScratchX
Pure Polish/Glaze - Show Car Glaze #7
Wax - Meguiars NXT (2 thin coats)

I'm excited to do this now

You really have helped me out greatly.

Thanks for everything.

HI guys,

Few more questions:

1) Do we wash the car after claying to remove excess lubrication?
2) If using BOTH DC#2 (polish/cleaner) and Scratch-X (for areas that need special treament), which order do you use first? Do we start we the least abraisave cleaner, the DC #2, or the Scratch-X, more abraisave cleaner first?
3) Is the DC #2 suppose to be applied to the whole car, or just areas that require it such as marred scratches?

Thanks.

1. No you don't

2.I am assuming you use scratchX then DC2

3. I'm not really sure, since it replaces the scratchX step and you only apply scratchX where scratches are I would guess it would be the same, which is only where you want. This is just my belief.

If you are not aware. The 3-step system w/ the DC1, DC2 and DC3 are not as good as scratchX, Show Car Glaze #7 and NXT tech wax.

Just a reminder

Thanks.
DC2 has no abrasives, it is a pure polish like #7. DC1 is similar to ScratchX but is less agressive.

So can we use a combo of Scratch-X and DC#1 (sorry, not DC #2)? And do you apply DC#1 to the whole car?

Yes. If you wanted to just hit a certain area with ScratchX and then hit the whole car with DC1 that would be fine, but there would be no point in doing the whole car with both since they both do the same thing...one is just more aggressive. ScratchX is really designed for spot hitting an area but it can be used to do a whole car. Most people use it over DC1 because it is more aggressive and they don't want to spend money on a polisher. Obviously the best route would be to buy a polisher and go a step further than ScratchX like Meguiars #80.

Hope this helps,
Rasky

washing should always be the first thing you do. No need to wash after scratchX.

I also have the same colour Civic,I recently detailed my car and the result I got has been the best ever.
After a wash clay ,polish, I used CG's Jetseal 109,then CG's EZ creme ,again Jetseal 109,then after 24 hours I applied a couple of layers of DP's Max Wax.
If you are familiar with the method "spit shine" applying a carnuba wax using this method would give Galaxy Grey the most amazing shine.
