Taking care of rock chips!!!

I'm sure it has been covered before, but search didn't provide me any result so I'll just go ahead and post it.

I was washing/waxing my car and I noticed a LOT of rock chips on bumper/hood and right in between them on the fenders! I only have 3300 mi on it and I never had any car that had this many rock chips in such a short mileage. Argg... I won't even talk about bumper because I already gave up after seeing countless. But I have 2 deep chips on fenders and 1 on the hood.

So, I just wanted to make sure what I was thinking to do is the right way of doing it. Basically I go to Honda dealership to get matching paint touch-up pen or something right? And get similiar primer and top coat for it. (Get these from Honda also or just Autozone or something?) Then do primer->paint (couple of times)->top coat (maybe 2 times). I wouldn't nomally do touch-ups but it looks like it will rust over time so...

Argg... I was so sad to see so many chips when I only have 3k mi on it. I'm afraid how my pain will look like when I have 30k mi on it. I hope you guys won't have the same problem...

Found a thread on the bottom of the list. I don't know why it didn't pop up on the search.

Anyways, is there any other way than Langka method shown in the thread? $40 sounds expensive to me, also you have to pay shipping on it then get your paint from dealer.

Why is this happening to me

I'm gonna be on the highway every weekend starting next week and I was wondering if its worth getting the Honda OEM Full Nose Mask? Its about 250 CDN which is pretty pricey for me.

Any suggestion/input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: I've also heard from my co-workers that if any part the nose is covering is dirty, it acts like sandpaper and scratches the paint overtime. Is this true?

And if you leave the nose on for a long time, you'll see a noticable scratches along the edges of the nose when you take it off (kinda of like as in the shape of the nose will be "etched" onto your front).

Anybody have experience with these full nose masks with their older vehicles?

good accessory because it is really functional. you want to have peace of mind when driving because that paint chip will drive you crazy once you get it. it is kind of hard to install the first time but easier to remove and reinstall the next time. i don't know if leaving it for a long time will do damage to the car. i take it off once in a while and clean the car and mask. i don't like it leaving it on with the rain for obvious reason but sometimes when unexpected rain comes, no choice.

i bought mine for $114 US + tax from my dealer

i drive a lot and i should have bought this right away when i bought the car. hope this helps

there are companies that make clear vinyl bras that fit on the car like decals, u can easily remove them if u ever need to and they're about 5 dollars shipped. you can find them on ebay. buy a few, so if u ever want to remove them for any reason they're cheap to reapply a new one. they cannot be reused once they're removed.

I think im getting rock chips, i've gotten like 2-3 very small dots that can't be washed off - are those rc's or just factory defects that I hadn't really noticed before?

rock chips. most of them occur at the lip of ur hood, right where ur grill is. that is the reason for the half mask/bra
