Picking up a Black FG2 need input
Whats up all, I put a downpayment and Iv been waiting about a month now, I originally ordered a blue one but they cant seem to find one. Before I deicided it was down to Black or Blue and for cleaning reasons i chose the blue but since I cant have that one Im getting a black one. Black looks so good when its clean so for those who have a black si do you have any input on keeping it clean? Its summer and its gonna be my first new car so it will be cleaned atleast once a week but how difficult is it?

one word its, hard, black isnt easy to keep clean.
its 2-3 hours of labor cleaning it once with waxing it, only to enjoy it for 4-5 min till dust settles. blacks best attribute is its ability to reflect light really well, hence the nice glossy shine, but that's also its huge downfall since everything will show on it more so than any other color. |

wait for blue. why not white
? they look awesome, clean or not. LOLok ok if blacks your last chance to get an si, expect to spend a lot of time with the car you gotta be really careful and delicate to avoid swirls, u gotta use the right supplies as well. and did i mention lots of time cleaning the car? Your first one is probably gonna take nearly a day if you want it done right the first time, and then just maintaining it the 2nd, 3rd etc.. time |

Create a big budget for cleaning supplies. Welcome to the NHBP nightmare. Clay bar and wax that joker ASAP. Use microfiber towels when you dry it. Dry it as soon as you can after washing. Get one of those dusters cause you're gonna see every bit of it. Keep in mind that the paint is really fragile.

while you washing it, periodically spray the whole car to keep it wet to stop from getting water spots, when i am done i actually use a leaf blower to blow a lot of the water off the car. that helps cuz it takes less time to wipe off all the water therefore less likely to leave spots and also it means less towels

I will never own another black or dark grey car again. I had a black 2000 Si that I would wash and it would literally be dirty an hour later just from being parked in my driveway, it showed swirl marks to no end and any slight imperfection stood out like a turd in a punchbowl. I got rid of my Flint Mica 2006 Scion tC for the same reason. I wanted a white Si when I bought my silver but they were not available. I have had 4 silver cars and while I am getting bored with the color, they are easy to keep clean.

Mine's not very hard to keep clean, although there has been a lot of pollen this year which shows up a lot on the black. I just give it a pressure wash rinse weekly then drive it for a few mins to get the majority of the water off. Then I dry it with a microfibre towel and use some kinda teflon clear coat shine spray. My last 2 cars were black, you get used to the little extra work. Nothing compares to street lights at dusk lighting up a clean black car. I want to try a clay bar in the next couple of weeks.

wats up man, i have a nhbp and it does take a little more time and effort to keep your car clean and your paint protected. Just wash it wen ever you can an d get your wax on it to protect it and just use the right materials so you don't swirl up the clear coat and don't let people brush their hands against the car when its dirty or try an rub the dust off because all that does is give you swirls and swirls are very noticeable on black cars, but when the car is clean you'll be happy that you have a nhbp civic.
also man when you go some were try to park in the back or something because you wouldn't want to have your car hit by someones door and get a bunch on nicks every were, because you no some people just don't have the love for their cars like some others and plus it will stand out on nhbp, but thats totally up to you, but i do because ill cry if their was a dent in my si.
