There is no "best wax," It's that simple. Different waxes do different things, protect better, shine better... Some waxes look better on X color... the list goes on..

If you're more specific, I'm sure someone can help you decide on what's best for YOU.

My Car is also black. I've used this polish and wax and I love. It gave me a amazing shine. and it lasts months longer than any other wax I've used. As far as being the "best" there is no real answer. Alot of it is just personal prefrence.

If you are feeling "cheap" (under 20 bucks), buy the liquid Meguiar's NXT wax.

I swear by it and I've converted a good many members here to use it.

My opinion, its the best thing under Zaino (100 bucks)

Better than Black Magic? (durability and shine)?? I already know its probably easier than applying black magic.

I dunno. Black Magic was so oily and hard to apply and remove that any benefits it had were quickly outdone.

Here are some links!
8thCivic thread about Consumer Report's wax test: Best Car Wax On The Market? Consumer Reports Tested Them

Some pictures of my Jetta w/ Black Magic (Oddly it looks like there isn't much reflection with this wax and only gloss. I think that is a misrepresentation) Brand New Fiji Blue : Washed, Clayed, Waxed

Zaino on my Si Zaino on Taffeta White -56k :(-

Black Magic is pretty good stuff. It is cheap, durable and has a nice shine. Though I agree it is not easy to apply. Oddly I found later coats harder to apply then the first ones. Still nice protection and gloss for cheap. Though in all honesty, because it can be difficult to apply it could make you think twice.

Many members here like NXT. Don't know much about it personally.

Don't know anything about Zymol but I hear it has a few fans, not too many here that I know of.

Zaino is pretty awesome, but you pay a lot for it. It lasts for a very very long time. Once you apply it, if you wash your car months later it will still look recently waxed in most cases. You don't have to apply it very often either. It has great protection and looks fantastic. Most people that use it say it is the best stuff they have ever seen. Though again, it is expensive. If you order it remember you don't need all their products. I recommend at least Z2 Pro and ZFX additive. That will run you about $35 + shipping.

Zaino FTW!!! Bought it and never looked back. Had to buy some more of it last week, ran me 70$...Z5pro, Z2, ZFX addictive and the touch up spray. Used it on my mothers Pathfinder after i clay-bared it and wow...it really made the shine and mettalic flakes a million times more noticable...I cant wait till my stuff comes in my civic needs it been about...10 months since i last applied it

Looks best with darker color cars!

++1.

Poorboys and Clearkote both make great easy to use in sun or shade products. I like EX, EX-P, Natty's Wax a lot too.

Clearkote gets the edge from me, Carnauba Moose Wax and polished first with either Vanilla Moose Wax ( a glaze mostly with some wax...) or Red Machine Glaze on my black Toyota 4X4 was a great easy to use combo. Poorboy Polish with Carnauba a good lazy man one step. Here's a link to a good place to order. For easy to find.... Meguiars #26 LiQUID Wax worked well, and their Professional Hand Polish or #7 Polish are very decent but a bit old school.

I just need someone to do it for me. No time.

I just hope the detailer I go to uses top-shelf stuff.
