washing my car

ok, i'm a newbie when it comes to detailing my car, but i feel it deserves a lot more... i got TW, and i need the best car shampoo that'll work for me ... a friend said sonus high gloss, but im not sure if thats the best thats out right now ....

also, would the lamb mits from my local auto store work or is there something safer ??? i already got those microfiber towels from target...

any help is appreciated ... thanks !

yea man, i think your good to go. I don't really use lambs wool mitt, i use the chenille MF mitts, and they work great on my NBP Si, and also the Sonus Shampoo is great, you could go with other boutique brands like Wolfgang and Poorboy's but if you have Sonus on hand, use it.
Also, use the two bucket method, one bucket with soap the other w/ plain water. Soak the mitt in the soapy water, wipe your car, then rinse mitt in the plain water bucket and repeat, this will help reduce micro-marring.
Good Luck,
-J

thanks ! one more thing .... heres what i should do, right: soak the mitt in the soapy water, put it on the car, rinse in plain water, and then add more soap and add more to the car, right ??

once im done applying all the soap, what do i do ? just use the power wash to take it all off and then dry or is there something else to it ??

p.s. with my old toyota, all i did was put the shampoo on car, rub it all over and then rinse the soap off .. bad, i know :P

There's a sticky on this forum that answers most of your questions here

***Detailing Guide***

As far as brand it's mostly personal preference because most of the better companies are the same. I use Zaino found here

its pretty sad that people post on here and offer such bad answers and some people might not catch onto his sarcasm.

anyways just use the 2 bucket method with decent soap.

gold class isnt bad if you buy it in bulk. otherwise poorboys and griots garage have awesome soap.

Best lubricity in a car soap- http://www.chemicalguys.com/Premium_..._p/cws_301.htm

you can buy it in 16 oz size and that will last you about 15 car washes. its citrus based and will leave a hella nice shine.

poorboys-
http://poorboysworld.com/super-slick.htm

it has a neutral ph level of 7.
1/2 oz is usually enough to do a car wash.

http://www.chemicalguys.com/category_s/10.htm
link to the rest of the chemical guys soaps they tell you how much lube and degreasing ability each one has on a 1-10 scale.

griots garage-
http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1001&SKU=11102

ive never tried it so i wouldnt know but on autopia theres nothing but nice things to say about this soap.

zaino z7-
http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...oduct_Count=10

1 cap will get you a bucket full of nice wash mixture.

There's every reason to be sarcastic. Try an ex-lax. You're clearly "congested".

Actually if you want to take off the wax dish soap is what you want haha

But in all seriousness, use car wash solutions because they don't take off the wax

Dude don't panic. It's washing a car.
What I do is the
top of the car first
Bottom of the car second (won't bring any dirt up to the top)
Wheels and tires (with a different wash mitt)
Rinse off at medium pressure (I don't like a solid hard stream hitting my paint so I use a soft spray)
Dry with a chamois or 100% cotton or microfiber towel

oh one last thing i need clarified

say i wash the one panel first, then rinse the mitt, do i clean off the panel that has the soapy water with the clean mitt or do i let it stay soapy and just rinse the mit, resoak it in soap and move on to the next panel ?

damn, i need a video or something ! :P
