Tell me about it. I almost accidentally ate the clay bar on purpose.

Well it makes sense to remove all contaminants each time you wash, it isn't necessary. Basic washing will eliminate most surface contaminants.

I say every 3-6 months would suffice.

my bad, what i meant was: when he needs to clay bar it, he'll do it while washing the car, instead of after he's done washing the car. Have you ever tried that to save time?

oh!

I wouldn't recommend using the soap as a lubricant. You would have to wash the car first, then claybar the individual panels to achieve best results IMO.

Basically what you're doing is rubbing all the crap back into the paint. It may work and you'll results to the naked eye and to the touch, but overtime I can foresee problems.

This is just my opinion

Quick question regarding claybarring. I normally compound my vehicles, when needed, with a wheel, then polish, glaze, wax. Is the clay bar an alternative to the wheel? Or does it compliment it and just another step? Thanks.

How do you store your clay bar? I got my meguiar's clay bar in a plastic packaging. Should I keep them in a water to avoid cracking or anything else?

didn't it come with a plastic container? wrap it up in the wrapper, and then leave it in the plastic container it came with. putting it in water doesn't seem like a good plan.

My friend who worked for a car detailer soak it in the water. I think I just leave it in the container like you said.

I saw si_civic said that soap is not good as a lubricant because you just might stick the dirt onto the car again. What if after I wash the car, I soap it for the second time to use as a lubricant? Is it okay?

How much of Meguiar's clay bar do you use to detail a car? I used 1/4 of one sachet of clay bar for front bumper, hood and front fender only. Am I using too much?
