I've read all the pages and it seems you don't have to wash the car again after clay baring? Can any detailer spray be used with a clay bar? Also, I have scratches on my hood that I want to get rid of. Should I use Scratch X before claying? I'm new to the whole detailing thing.
Thanks, Brian |

If you want to wash the whole car, to be on the safe side, then by all means. As for you hood, try claybar first (to rid the surface of all crap) then scratch-x for best results. Wax afterwards. Darryl ! ![]() |

so i was going to pay my local body shop expert for a total wax/claybar job and make my car look like new, it has some scratches and major swirl problems.. anyways i was going to do this after winter passes by, should i clay/wax it before winter just for extra protection or just wait?

I don't know if the OP had mentioned this earlier, but people need to realize that different claybars should be used depending on the condition of the paint AND the color!! Granted, I am too lazy to do this myself and I am by no means a pro, but this advice came to me from my detail shop that has been in business for 27+ years. http://www.carcleanersdetailing.com/main.html
I had conversed with the owner in what they do to prep a car for sealing/waxing. He does claybar the vehicle, but he mentioned that he uses 6 different types depending on the color/condition of the paint. The Car Cleaners applied an acrylic sealant on my car and it was beautiful!!!! P.S. If anyone lives in Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert area in AZ, THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR BABY!! |

I just finished claybarring my whole car down today. I bought the Mother's claybar kit a few days ago and finally got around to using it. I've been planning to get the Meguiar's kit for a long time until I got enough money and of course, when I finally can go out and buy it, it isn't in stock. So I got the Mother's instead and I'm really happy with the results. Gonna try Meguiar's next though and compare.
Anyway, thanks to your tutorial I was able to get an easy feel of what I was doing. A little hesitant at first but that ended quickly. A few dropped clays and a few hours later, I get that smooth "glass-like" feel. Actually my car felt better than any of the glass that I felt... - ![]() |

i am amazed at the 6 pages i have read. i have some great advice now. in 2 weeks i am showing at NOPI in STL. i plan to use a claybar to take the impurities from the paint. i had a Blues magnet on my hood for 2 days in the sun. i washed the car to find when i removed the manet, the magnet was resisting removal. i used water and pulled it off. in proper light you can see where the magnet used to sit on the hood. i have washed it, but you can still see and feel where the magnet was. i had the hood wet sanded and buffed, only for a few days did the impression of the magnet dissappear. the lower portion from the magnets impression has dissappeared, but the top portion is still visable. any advice?
