Question Does waxing ruin the sealer?

I paid the extra for the interior and exterior sealer, and they say that you don't need to wax your car for 5 years. It works alright, but I got a ton of water spots from this damn sprinkler in my apartment complex and I also put some small scratches in the clear coat on the roof from where I put a box one time. The only way that I know to get these things out is to use wax, but I don't want to mess up the sealer that I paid like $700 bucks for. Any suggestions?

Ouch! I would have put that same sealer on for $50!

The Sealer they sell you is crap! It's bassiaclly a synthetic wax. I'd bring it back for the water spots but as far as the scratches you're on your own.

The only reason I did it was because of the guarantee, if you get a stain as a result of spilling anything in your car, they will replace the ENTIRE INTERIOR free of charge.

I only seen 1 person come back in the year I worked there. She was an old lady who took an SOS pad to try and remove a bird dropping! Because she had done that the warranty was Void.

I paid about $500 for that warranty. Nobody said anything about any extra sealer. My understanding was that it was more of a plan that covers the exterior as far as paint chips and anything relating to the clear coat, and the interior as far as any stains or problems of any kind with the upholstery. Like you said, they'll replace any piece of the interior that they cannot make look brand new. All for 5 years. Oh, and it includes one full professional detailing per year. I generally detail my own car, but it'll be nice to get it fully done like that. It's a bargain if you ask me.

I did it because when my parents bought their new car they got the interior coating and they went back every year for 5 years and got it reapplied, which was basically a complete interior detail, which I thought was pretty cool. I thought this would be the same way, but they told me that it only had to be applied once.

Paint shields/ coatings are nothing more than a coat of wax sold in conjunction with a insurance policy. Read the fine print as to what you need to do to keep the coverage in force.

I work for a automotive group and can honestly say that this is just a way for the sales team to beef up the profit margin.

Your better off waxing your car on a regular basis or spending the money and treating your car or yourself to a professional detail

No. In fact, waxing the car will probably provide infinately better protection (and results) than the crap they spray on at the dealer and charge you too much for.

I paid an extra $300 for the "Parking Lot Protection Plan" is what they called it, I think. They placed a protectant, of some sort, over the exterior of my entire car. With this plan they also placed a clear bra on my hood, the front portion of my side mirrors, and the edges of my doors. Plus, whenever I get a scratch that can be buffed out, they will do it for free. I've already utilized this scratch removal several times (crappy Honda paint). They won't fix it if it needs to be painted, but they'll buff it out as best they can. I'm quite happy with the plan for only $300.

P.S.- I still regularly wax my car.

hummm... you can buy the 3M clearbra strips at Griots and also
use some PrimaEpic as sealer every 6months with better results.

As far as buffing out scratches... use ScratchX to spot polish.

Probably with nice MF towels and applicator, no more than $55-$60.
