why does it always have to rain on my parade

so seriously it's like the car gods know when you spend more than an hour and a half on your car...i polished and hand waxed my baby and sure enough here comes a torrential downpour....BOOOOOO....and another question, how often is too often to wax? the TX state meet is next weekend and before the drive down i was plannign to polish and wax again, but if that's too frequent to wax then obviously i won't do so, but i figured i would ask

uhhh... i swear i read this post before a couple months ago. Same poster, same avatar. Weird... deja vu?

Anyway. I would say waxing more than once a week is too much. I wash/wax mine every 2 weeks.

If the rain/water still beads, you have enough wax. 3-4x per year is good enough for most climates.

I'd throw one more coat of wax on and use some quick detailer afterwards to get your extra rezidue off. Polish your wheels and wax them too before you go. Use the same stuff you use on the car paint. And don't forget to apply some endurance gel to the tires with a small paint brush. YOur ride will be blinding. What are you driving anyways?

Not to rain on your parade, but I detailed the outside of my car last week and it hasn't rained since. I think that's a first because every other time the same rain thing seems to happen to me.

As for a second coat of regular wax, I wouldn't do it. I like to use the spray wax that just wipes off. I have a Meguires detailing kit and it came in there. It also came with some of the best tire glaze I have ever used, it still looks like I just put it on a week later. And it didn't spray all over the side of the car when I drive.
