Ah, Wax Help!

I just bought my Civic, and the girl that owned it before me done a "quick" wax job on it before I looked at it for the first time. There are SWIRLS everywhere, and well... it was a crap job. What should I do to fix this problem? Is it too soon to re-wax? I've been reading up on the "claybar" stuff, along with sealents, and all of that jazz. And I would love to do that, but what about the wax that is already on there? [Oh, my car is black btw :)]

Wash and wax... Don't worry about the wax that's on there right now.

Dawn (others will rant about this, just dont use it all the time), Cleaner wax, wax/adhesive remover, or just clay it then wax.

So just mix up the dawn with water, and how do you use the others?

Go to your local detail shop and get yourself some good stuff...Start with a good soap then a solvent to remove all that tar....then a clay bar and clay juice,glaze,wax....then it should look like new....

Yeah, dont use much though. A cleaner wax might be easier though. Just wash the car then use the cleaner wax to get rid of the swirls. Be sure to cover the whole panel. Otherwise you will be back to square one.

Ohhh ok, I will definitely try that! Hopefully I can get it back to square one and then do it the right way! Any name brands that are the best? I've been reading the Mother's is good and Mcguire [sp]. I've always used Armoral.

Those are good, just stay away from Armoral. My favorite cleaner wax is Zymol.

Check the sticky too, it has a diy from a professional detailer explaining how to clay and wax the car properly. Good Luck
