OMG!! Is this cop crazy or AM I CRAZY?
Ok, I was going home from work (now..)
doing 33mph in a 30mph, and saw a STATE POLICE CAR.. So I slowed down to 30mph, 30 seconds later.. LIGHTS ON!! I'M LIKE OMG... He asks me where I was going and registration+dl.. After 3 minutes he comes back and says: I pulled you over because your FOG LIGHTS are on.. So I was like: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? WTF LOL I'm going to give you a warning.. but you're not supposed to use fog lights in regular weather.. Is this for real? If not I"m fighting for it!! I live in massachusetts.. |

just found this on google:
Q. What is the law regarding use of fog or driving lights on my vehicle? A. It is illegal to use fog or driving lights when not necessary, therefore only during inclement weather. Still cant believe that the guy stopped for that.. |

Uhhh, I'm calling B.S.
Cars have daytime running light on nowadays for safety. What the hell difference would having foglights on do? Oh no! You're throwing too much light onto the sides of the road! You might blind or distract someone! Crap IMO. I think he was about to pull you over for something else but realized he couldn't for whatever reason so he was just making stuff up. If that is actually the case I'd be blown away. Is this really the best use of that cop's time? Heh heh, I know I'll pull this guy over for illegally running stock unmodified lights... |

Crap. First off, there is no disadvantage to running them during the day. They throw light down and to the sides. They aren't distracting and they don't direct light toward other drivers (not that it would matter during the day)
Second, again, is that really the best use of that cop's time? I think our resident officers will agree in how ridiculous that is. That law should be repealed. I imagine it was always ridiculous but it is especially so now that DRL are standard on most cars. |

he could have pulled you over cuz a car similar to yours was stolen in the area. i had a cop pull me over a number years ago, and he told me that he had no real reason to pull me over except i was driving an electron blue si. there was an apb out for an asian guy who stole one. cuz my registration/insurance/license checked out he let me go, but warned me that it might happen that day, but it didn't.

I used to get pulled over for fog/driving lights...some jurisdictions and states outlaw the things, some just don't enforce it. DRL's distinguish themselves from fog and driving lights by being a much lower intensity.
And as I type this, I recall that fogs are often regulated just as high beam usage is. |
