Can't find a new 2010 Si to lease/buy in Rochester, NY

Hey guys, I need your advice - I put a $200 deposit down at the dealership on Wednesday.

I told them I wanted a 2010 Si coupe, and they tried for days to find me a coupe here in Rochester, NY with NO LUCK!

They called dealerships in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and ALL of New York State - they found a black coupe, but it was sold already.

They are telling me that Honda is no longer delivering Si's at all - be it a coupe or a sedan for 2010.

I said that I would wait the 8 weeks to order a 2011 Si, however they again told me that they weren't sure whether or not they would be able to even order me a 2011 - something about Honda not informing them of how many Si's they have allocated for the New York State region.

I got another call from the other major Honda dealer here and they said that Honda told them they were only allocating about 4 Si's for all of NY state.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2009 Si sedan that they have on the lot - it has 113 miles on it and it would be cheaper to purchase the car than it would be to lease due to the residual value of the car.

What would you do in my situation?

Does anyone know whether or not the availability of the 2011 Si's is going to be any better than it was for the 2010s? If I wait to see if they can order me an Si - what do you think my chances of getting one are? I currently drive a 2003 BMW 330Ci, and they offered me $9500 for the car if I was to sign a deal before the end of March. If I wait another 8 weeks, they may not be able to offer me as much for the car. Considering I have a loan and it would help me get out of that loan and partially pay it off, they would be able to roll over the current balance onto a new lease / finance deal.

It really blows me away that they can't find me an Si in the tri-state area - its as if these things are Ferrari's or something????

wow man, I can't believe how few there are... When I bought mine they had several on the lot (a few red ones!)

But yeah, honda does that... when they think something isn't selling, they stop sending them to dealerships around.

I recommend you e-mail some of the dealerships in other states to make sure they *really* don't have them...

Yay for resale value! I mean I'm sorry for your loss....

Just kidding :-) If I was in your shoes, I would get the 09 if they gave me a deal, although if they are that rare a deal might be hard to find too.

Hmm.. usually I only see shortages happen just before a re-vamp... production stops, new upgrades / techniques are processed / applied etc. Hmm...

Tell me about it - I'm just going to go with the 2009 Si sedan that they have on the lot - from what they tell me other dealers have been calling asking about the car, trying to buy it from them, and a few other people were interested in the car but I'm picking it up on Monday at lunch. Pretty excited.

Worst comes to worst I can sell the thing outright in a year or even a few months depending on the availability of the 2011's, or even trade it in. I would imagine the car will hold its value fairly well.

I'd go for the '09. I had been looking for a FA5 w/ navi for around 6 months. Every time I'd call a dealer the car was sold. As soon as I bought my car, another guy came in for it. They sell quick.

this is going to make me feel great about driving my 09 Si in a year or two especially if they bring out some watered down hybrid version of it.

I went through the same thing you did a few months ago when looking for my 2010 Si. I think I got the last one in the whole east coast in pmm color based on how hard it was to find...

But through my extensive search, I did find a bunch of places that had the sedan ( didn't check for the coupe version) but they only had it in black color. Mostly in Brooklyn area.
I found a place at Huntington Honda that had a 2009 but it was in red, which is basically the same as the 2010 in really good condition and price.

I wouldn't believe any dealer that says they can special order you one right from Honda. For whatever reason they aren't telling you, it just can't be done.

Dealmaker Honda of Watertown has them. They keep a running Inventory.

DealMaker Auto Group, NY

Tell them Josh Morrison sent you, ask to speak with John Keggins, he will treat you right.

I'm beginning to think that the rumor on the Type R is going to come.. ahah or lets just hope that the automatic Civic SI that are coming in are just not great to the 6-speed.

I got an 2009 Fa5 in ASM at John Holtz Honda as well. I purchased my car in March and they had a bunch of them available. It seems however that the supply is going down.
