The Sharks struck again

A female friend of mine got eaten up at Shockley Honda in Fredrick, MD last Friday. She bought an 08 Mazda 3 and was completely happy with the car but made a mistake of rushing and not going over the car very well. So myself and her fiance looked it over and found multiple things wrong cosmetically and wanted something done about it, wasn't likely but wanted to see if the dealership would reason. In the end the salesman walked away from us without trying at all to help just said how perfect the car was. He proved they are NOT worried about customer satisfaction at all and I suggest everyone to go elsewhere if purchasing a new car!!!!!

1. Hood offset 1/2" 2. Fog light lens cracked 3. Plastic around back up light melted 4. scuffs in paint where they tried to fix scratches and made it worse
5. rims severely curb rashed

Ummm... not to be a **** but how is this the dealership's fault in any way? I for one absolutely despise dealerships, but-- your friend signed the papers releasing them of anything wrong with the car. She was supposed to look over it before signing it so all liability is off them.

Think about it-- if you were in the dealership's position, would you do anything about it? Who is to say that your friend didn't scuff the rims, paint, and mess up the hood/foglights herself?

Is this a serious thread?!

I'm usually not for what dealerships do/say but in this case, I take their side... Sorry, but a car is a big purchase. How do you not even LOOK at it before you buy it? I go over BRAND NEW cars with a fine-tooth comb before I buy them...

Sorry man, your female friend should have more sense or should have had a friend/fiancee go with her when making this purchase.

As stated from me she made a mistake and her fiance is not happy, I am in no way siding with her on this . All 3 car I have bought I was walked around completely new/used and made aware of defects on the 2 used that I bought. I am bashing on their CUSTOMER SERVICE in the way we were basically kicked out of the dealership when they were claiming the car to be "perfect", some of these defects should be taken care of when certifying a vehicle to be "perfect" for sale on their lot. A good salesman makes sure the customer is completely happy especially with a big purchase like a vehicle and he was a total ****.

yes at least that but the salesman saw a victim when all 4'11" of her walked onto the lot with her grandmother, said dinner is served and walked all over her like they will. In a recession time like we are in the fewer people they serve should be treated better with more time and care.

Sounds to me (by your 2nd post) like you ARE siding with her... Selling cars is a business. She didn't *have* to buy the car. She chose to. Now when she comes back and complains about it... what would you EXPECT a salesman to do? Give her a refund?

I know we're being harsh but we're talking about buying a car (big investment), not a pair of shoes. Hopefully things work out.

Not at all man. A good salesman sells his product well...and that's it.

I never said about a refund buddy. But cracked plastic around a back up light and cracked fog light is something they normally wouldn't replace on a 2008? I am not siding with her as stated I am bashing on the way he didn't even want to talk with us and work out an understanding. I have been in sales and wouldn't walk away from a client, boss wouldn't likey too much

I guess from the great way I was treated by my salesman twice at my local honda lot I think differently. He made sure I was completely happy and didn't mind taking the extra time to do everything he could for me, just lucky I suppose

She did make a mistake by not looking but I am still on your side. The dealer should fix some of the blemishes. It would not even cost them very much and would make the customer happy. They won't do it because most dealers are scum. I am going to try and stay away from going to dealers for used cars in the future because they are scum. The price mark ups are crazy and customer service sucks. To top it off the car she bought most likely has other issues. People trade in their cars when there is issues they don't want to deal with. The dealers barely even look at the cars being traded because they don't care if it is junk. They just want to make their $5000 mark up and then they are done with you.

exactly, and she now knows she made a BIG mistake, so to everyone else who previously posted. All I am saying is their customer service was extremely under par and I was just told the manager didn't bother to call her back all day when she left a message early this morning. They got their hit it and quit it so it is all good to them.

Yeah...They are scum! This is the main reason I bought my SI brand new. Tired of dealing with scum dealers and cars that were someone elses problem.

well, that's the risk they were willing to take. Anymore with the information age as it stands, every business, even the big ones, run the risk of one "little guy" putting the hurt to them. The Circuit City navi install comes to mind as does the various e-bay auctions for cars that sell wayyy underpriced.

Shockley needs to recognize that people are allowed to get on the forums and post about a bad experience. If they cared, they should have helped. I always google the sh*t out of a dealership before I go there for anything... if they have bad reviews or bad customer experiences, I stay away.

Take note, Shockley.

yeah they either have a watch dog online or someone there found my post and they actually pulled it on her when she talked with them. They said how I am rude with my comments and said about someone in particular when I clearly stated their service in general. They got their money so they don't care anymore but if I drive one persons $20K away from them I will be satisfied.

See if there's any well-known car dealership review websites and post on there... doesn't edmunds have one?

DealerRater.com - Car Dealer Reviews, Car Dealer Directory, FREE Dealership Classified Ads

I found a couple of dealerships I worked with on there too...

EDIT: By "worked with" I mean "purchased from"

A used car is not a new car...even a new car is never perfect...and all dealers are money hungry scumbags, that's just a given.
