For instance, when I bought my car, I thought the original price ($19,100 on the road) was fine, but I called a couple of other dealerships in the area, one of which came in $500 cheaper! I called back the original dealership and told him the new quoted price, which he said he might not be able to beat, but he called me back and beat it by $200! Which tells me they had some holdback left, but not a whole lot. When you deal with a dealership through one (or in my case, 3) test drives, negotiation, phone calls, etc. for one car deal, you should always go back to them, if you liked dealing with them (which you'll know by the end of your test drive or so). This is for several reasons: The first of which is respect. No matter your view of car salespeople, they are still PEOPLE, and deserve to be treated as such, at least until they prove they aren't worthy of your respect. Second, after having spent several hours working with a particular salesperson, he or she is more likely to give you a better price during negotiations, because of that time they invested in you! This works out to your benefit once you start calling around, because you can then take the lowest price you were quoted elsewhere, and if the salesperson you originally dealt with really wants the deal (as he or she should, since they spent several hours with you already), you can get them to beat that price - this has worked out well for me in the past. One final note: Once you've bought a car from a particular salesperson, you have started a pattern - the dealership (and your salesperson in particular) will have a file on you, and they recognize (or at least SHOULD recognize) that you are a knowledgeable car buyer, and are looking for the best price without a whole lot of nonsense. Thus, if you go back to that dealership with a friend, family member, or to buy another car, they will give you a better price to begin with, very close to whatever "best deal" you can get anywhere else in the area. This has worked very well for me in the past, as I have a dealership I've bought 5 cars at, and it usually takes a test drive and then about 45 minutes after I bring it back, I am on the road in a new car (if I actually wanted to do the deal, that is). Good luck, -John |

Chicago Dealerships
I got a reasonable quote from Ohare in Chicago. $16298 for LX coupe auto. of course they didnt detail the dest charge so I assume they are going to add that later.
My local dealership in response to my request to match the price stated that most likely this a dealership selling new cars damaged in transit ie frame damage etc. I suspect this is to scare me into buying from them but thought i would put it out here to see if anyone has a comment on Ohare. I would be flying in to get the car and don't want any surprises. |

Also, I don't like that price matching crap, it just seems sleazy to me. I would be ticked if I was the salesman. But I guess that's the game and consumers have to play it. |

Nope, I got a quote via email from Mike A. over there... Showed up, no surprises, no funny extra charges, they didn't try to up sell me on anything like extended warranty or anything. I was shocked that no game was played. I payed what he quoted me in the email. From the time I showed up to driving off in my new civic had to be less than 30 minutes.

Thank you! How much more do I add on to the Bottom line price for an auto?
Would it be a bad idea to bring a copy of that to the dealer with me? Last edited by 00MaxSE; 06-04-2008 at 11:19 PM. |

I just recently test drove a Civic SI coupe and the dealership gave me the MSRP price of 21,110.. I went through internet sales and didnt really try to get the price lowered. I'm going to try to go to another dealership and try to get the a coupe with HFP kit for under 22k, you guys think that will be possible?

Honestly, it really depends on where you live and the color. What I did was just email all the dealers reasonable close to you, and talk to their internet managers. I just bought my stock 08 Taf. White SI coupe for $22,500 OTD with 2.9% APR and 12k down. I live in So. Cali (8.25% tax), so its in high demand, and I got the very last white SI in So. Cali. I literally went to like 30 to 40 dealerships, i swear. They also filled up my gas guzzler SUV, so i technically bought the car for $22,420 OTD =) Last edited by goducksgo; 06-10-2008 at 05:51 AM. |

Hi all. I just spoke to several different Honda dealerships in NJ and they all gave me this bs that 'oh, Civic Si's, they are sooo precious and sought after that we can't give one to you for any less than the sticker price. With gas prices going up nowadays, everyone is trying to get one so they will save money on gas.' uhhh.....LOL. riiiiiiight. Why would anyone want to buy a car that uses PREMIUM gas to save money on gas? Has anyone here recently bought a Civic Si from one of those stealerships in New Jersey? If yes, how much did you have to pay??

Ralph schomp honda in Littleton colorado has great deals on SI's. Call and Ask for Lisa Schomp or Aaron or Tyler wallace, all of whom are the owners. I got my 08 si' last november for way below sticker, plus no dealer handling fees or destination charges either, which is guaranteed in any sale with them, check em out.
