I am taking delivery of my 07 4dr civic SI with Navi, Habby tomorrow.
First I want to say that this combination was SO difficult to find in the northern virginia area. I have 12 dealers giving me quotes for the wrong color or with no navi, and only orisman Honda in bethesda found it in baltimore and traded one of their non-navi cars for it. Anyways, I got it at 23295 + tax tags and registration. I also added the auto dimming mirror, wheel locks, and all season floor mats, That brought it to around 25200. Then, I had the integrated alarm, underbody rust proofing/rubber stuff added, and paint protection added. That was $1300. Then, since i'm going to be keeping the car for a long time, and drive tons of miles, got the 6 year, 100,000 extended warrenty. That was like 1000. All said and done was like 27,480. I think it's a pretty good deal. I had some dealers in the area quote me a msrp of 26,602 so, I got it for 23200. more then 3,000 less. Love the HABBY color!!! |

Why does everyone talk about what they paid in relation to MSRP, what really matters is out the door price. Around here they put the mark-up in the options and the tax rate is 8.125% at the dealership I bought mine from, so out the door price means a whole lot more than MSRP.

Because most folks will NOT break down their Doc, dealer, misc fees and taxes. They often just list 'out the door' which is completely not worth comparing since rates will vary dramtically from dealer to dealer and state to state. For example, a few states run upwards of 10%, while a few states have sales tax caps of as low as $400, max. Add on top of this dealer fees which can range from $0 (zero) to several hundred dollars and you have a confusing position quite quickly if folks do not break down their fees and taxes. That, at the end of the day, is why your variance from MSRP is a much easier point of comparison, and, frankly, is comprable from state to state (and dealer to dealer) that way.
