4th of july?

so my dad is going to help me put a down payment on me for my new fa5 and im going to pay off the rest, but he wants to wait untill 4th of july cause he believes there will be good sales that day. has anybody else had any experience with 4th of july sales? anyway i think its a better idea if i were to try and purchase the fa5 before the vehicle registration goes up on may 19th. what are your thoughts on this?

Well, you want it faster, so you can make up tons of excuses why you should get it now, like the end of May Memorial Day sales, end of 09 model year, etc.

I think you'll find a good deal on a Pontiac, or any American car for that matter on July 4th. That's their thing. As far as Honda, or Japanese cars, they have dealer incentives that vary a little month to month. So I don't think you will find anything special on July 4th weekend that you couldn't get other months. May incentives should be announced around May 5th.

Don't buy a car on July 4th. It's supposed to be a national holiday, but some dealers make their sales and service staff work anyway. Don't be the guy who goes in to take advantage of that.

Why wouldn't they want to make commission on a holiday? I mean if you're going to work you might as well make some money.

True, but the more people go into a dealership on a holiday, the more the owners are encouraged to open on holidays next year.

In reality, the dealer doesn't do that much more business by staying open on days like July 4th, Memorial Day, etc...But they do it anyway to try and squeeze a couple of extra sales out of that month. Ask anyone who has to be at work on the 4th if they wouldn't rather be at the lake drinking beer, and see what sort of answers you get.

Last summer was a great period for compacts. It was "The Summer of Civic".
