Uh, no.. the new SS handles quite well actually. And if you want a 'nice' car, you should probably stop shopping for ~22 thousand dollar economy cars in the first place.

As has been stated numerous, numerous times by the suspension gurus on here, these cookie cutter coilovers really don't improve your suspension like you think. It stiffens it up and you feel it, and then the psychological effects of "omg I have a stiff suspension" kicks in and you think you have some new tracking beast. Doesn't work like that

The Colbalt is the new king of FWD sport compacts besting the current king MS3, out dragging it and out handling it. That said I would never trade my MS3 for one of these. After this car im done with high power FWD cars. Need me some RWD and got my eye on a G37S.

Enough with the fanboi ricer mentality... compare the stock Si to the stock Cobalt SS. We all know that if you supercharge your Si it will be faster (no shit). Who cares?

What if you put those coilovers on the cobalt? I think its already been established that the Cobalt is not as nice as the Si but it does everything else better. It is quicker, handles better, cheaper, Brembo brakes, has launch control, 160k warranty (CAN).

Bad things are, it's resale value but the car is already cheaper to start off with, the interior is poo and it doesn't look nice but it has like 280 HP. It also doesn't have a 6 speed which also sucks.

So all in all, its a good car unless you car about how smooth it shifts or how good you look when everybody is passing you.

I don't think you know the power of the SS at all.

Its not the stiffness i was referring to, or even the fact that they are "cookie cutters" but they are adjustable, at the least camber wise, you MOST CERTAINLY will be able to dial in better handling than the stock cobalt suspension. I drove one, and the suspension is awesome, but my si still ate turns better, not because it felt that way, because it was adjusted, and i could have even dialed them in more had tire conservation not been on my mind. not to mention, the stock si suspension, or even hfp's are pretty nice anyways, coilovers are just a huge plus, and im not talking about tein basics or skunk2 base coilovers.

Call me a fanboy but last time i checked, honda owns chevy in the "tuner" world, i wonder why cobalt hasnt sold half as many cars as honda, lameness.

i agree with everything you just stated, coilovers would make the cobalt even more badass! yeah, we know that the cobalt is poor attempt at the market honda dominates in, but i think chevy will step up their game, someone is gonna take one of those cobalts and build a beast, upgrade the turbo, tune, suspension, and voila! you got a badass car. but right now, its hard to break away from honda, you can use water instead of oil and the car wont die! (thats not a literal statement)

Can someone tell me what makes a Cobalts interior seem cheaper than an Si?

Disregarding the fancy speedo up high on the dash, what makes one "nicer" than the other. Is it really possible that the Cobalt's plastic scuffs more, interior pieces rattle more, door handles fall off more, the cloth wears more than my 1 and a half year old Si? If so then it's gotta be a terrible vehicle. These are low 20k cars, who's setting the luxury baseline?

The 8ths are riding on a reputation of previous generations, I hope mine is as reliable as previous but from what I've seen so far I'm not instilled with a great deal of confidence.

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the MS3 is really a fugly car. The Cobalt is somewhere between the Si and MS3.

You can't say that based of one track that the cobalt handles better than a Cayman S. Different drivers, different driving condition play a big role in determining the true handling potential of a car. My SLK230 was rated at 8:29 seconds on the nurburgring but did it handle better than my Si? Hell no. It depends on the track, conditions and above all who is driving. In a race in which both cars are together with similar driver skill levels will only determine which one actually handles better. Gathering a host of lap times around various circuits than averaging them out would be the best indicator of which car is faster on a general trend basis. I'm sure some autocrossers have seen a cobalt running, maybe a few them can offer some insight.
