Thumbs up 3500 mile shake down cruise of my EX Sedan

So I took delivery on my EX Sedan 5AT/Navi just 5 days before my planned vacation to the Outer Banks, Nags Head North Carolina.

With gas pushing $3.00/gal and a new car in the driveway, I couldn't resist, and informed my passengers, wife and two kids age 12 and 10, that they'd be test subjects for my serious road trip. The original plan was to take the '03 EX Oddessy.

In a nutshell, the car performed flawlessly, everything worked exactly as advertised. The nav system was outstanding, it's really nice to be able to browse stops along the route from over 100 miles away! I only found one area where the system was not up to date, on the NC coast the newest highway was not in the system.

MPG was impressive; At 75MPH with AC on, I saw a consistant 35MPG. On a few legs I dropped the speed to 70MPG and got 38.5MPG. The Oddessy gets 18 to 21 under similar conditions.

Comfort wise It took me some time to get used to things. With the cruise on and my foot off the throttle, I found my knee hitting the E-Brake, by the 1,000 mile mark I was over it. Indeed it is a smaller car then the van, and the little guys we're starting to gripe in the last hours, but in general what a nice trip. The size of the car and seating did not limit me, as usual my bladder can only go about 4 hrs!

The trip went like this; driving day one, DFW to Knoxville, TN, day two, Knoxville, TN to Nags Head, NC. After a week or so on the beach we did driving day three to Annapolis, then over to DC. Driving day 4 was DC to Nashville, and day five was from Nashville back to DFW.

One final note... 3400 miles, 5 full days on the road and I saw only 7 06' Civics!

Where are all you guys!!!

I'm glad you liked how the Civic performed. I put about 800 on our first trip to East Tenn from Nags Head and averaged about 38 mpg doing 75-80 mph. I was impressed. We plan on driving to Houston in the fall and hope to break 40 mpg.

Surprised you didn't see more 06 civics in the DC area. I see them all the time.

Thats all you saw?! I cant drive to work in the morning without running into at least 3 or 4 and I'm on the road for like 25 minutes. About 95% of them are sedans.
