This is a perfect example.

People think TSX projectors are all alike. WRONG.

Sellers argue that projectors are symmetrical because they were pulled out of the same vehicle, i.e. driver and passanger. That doesn't mean anything.

The only way to get symmetrical projectors is by color modding them to your liking, and picking the two that look alike modified. The problem is that you need many many projectors to do this. I say you can modify 20 projectors equally, and they are all slightly different. Of course, if you get the tsx projectors from custom lightz, then we get you a set chooses from 30+ projectors.

Put a washer on each nipple and I'll assure u that u will get more color out of the straight one. If they are already modded then unmod them. I'll teach u how to make the cutoff straight when I'm on my home pc
They do not have washers on any of them. We'll chat on how to get th straight cutoff.

Although the matched projectors are good for wall shots, does it have any effect on real world performance on the road?

Well, yes and no.

Color mods are designed for looks. However with CMSII, when the cutoff is straight instead of the dip, it does improve lightoutput as it raises the light towards the right, and left.
