Short Shifter Question

Guys, I'm wondering what the difference between short shifter with and without cable bushing. Is it really essential? Because I know some brands does not offer cable bushing, just the short shifter. What the difference between brands such as TWM, Corsport, Comptec and Neuspeed?

I appreciate your non biased advise and opinion. Thanks

You can install just the short shifter. It will reduce the distance it takes to reach thee gears. All the short shifters are pretty much the same. the bushings make the shift feel more direct.

they are all the same and reduce throw by 22% I believe the bushing make almost no difference imo but I would just buy the cheapest ss you can find good luck

So I would feel no difference with or without cable bushing? I found installing cable bushing just a bit complicated (or just I'm too lazy). What about base bushing?

i have the cable bushings and I found that the feel is much more solid with them than the oem ones. the shift was really soft prior to the install of the cable bushings. I love the feel of it now that they are installed. i am waiting for the ss from corsport as well, but it should be a great combo to have both the solid feel and the short throw.

Don't you mean SS adapters because there is only one real SS out but with severe limited availability. I have the Comptech SS adapter myself & it's alright but nothing special compared to a full replacement.

the bushings replace the stock ones. notice how there is "play" in the shifts even when the shifter is in gear, it will tend to wobble a bit.. the bushings will make it stiffer and more precise

Ehm..I'm confuse now. Because I really want to have a short shifter but also maintaining the soft and smooth shifting. Should I get the cable bushing then or just the ss?

Sounds like you want the stock "feel" but a shoter throw between gears. Just get the SS adapter & it doesn't matter which one because they're pretty much all the same.

yeah, if you want the stock feel then just go with the short shifter. the cable bushings only make the shift between gears a little more stiff as well as a more solid feel when you put the vehicle in and out of the gears.
