Honda Certified Leather Seats

Spoke with my guy at the Honda Dealership this morning and he has found a upholster guy that could do civics and he has gotten the guy certified by honda to reupholster the seats in calfskin leather (including the red Si) and still be under Honda warranty because of seatbelt and airbag issues.

Cost is just under $1,500 and takes about four days to get done. They take the car upholster the front and rear seats and also replace the fabric in the door and rear panels with leather to match.

If you are interested contact Bob McDermott at Harbor Honda in Merrillville, Indiana (just outside Chicago) - (219) 947-3900. Tell him Alan told you to call.

Oh and here is Bob standing next to my Nighthawk Si.....

mine came factory with leather as well, however BIG WARNING....if you wear belts or any kind of suit with hard black belts, be careful when sitting down or else it will rub onto the corner of the seat. When you get it you'll know what I'm talking about.....weekly I'm having to scrub my seat to get the scuff marks off.

Actually - None of the work is done at the factory - all outsourced vendors are used.

Don't they use Katzkin? You could get leather in the Civic for quite some time now. I think the average is $1200.

I'll never do leather again.

Yeah they are ALL aftermarket. Every dealership does that with vehicles that don't have leather as an option. They just outsource it locally. I actually bought a kit on eBay for my last car and did it myself, cost me like $350 and it was pretty easy to do. You just have to have a special crimp tool and these special staple clips and sometimes glue. If I find a decent kit that is cheaper I would consider putting leather in, but I do love the fabric in the Si. I've never liked a fabric seat ever until I saw the Si's material. It's like a soft sports jersey kind of. :)

I LOVE Si cloth seats. Wouldn't trade for leather for free. The only thing I'm not too hot about is the stiched "Si" on the seat--think that's a bit overkill. The material is awesome, and the seats are one of the most comfortable I've been in.

I love the Si emblem stitching on the seats. I also love the contrasting red stitching. The only drawback to the Si seats is that they really show any little piece of lint or hair, etc.

My Civic's leather was $1245 and they did a beautiful job - right through the dealer. It's warrantied (warranted?), right?
