CorSport Short Shifter issue
I got the SS installed and have the issue of the linkage rubbing or not going in 2nd, 4th, 6th, and reverse. Now, it looks like there's the clearance of the ss with the blue cap. i need it to go in deeper to clear for the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and Reverse. Need help.
Btw, I'm actually fixing the car as we speak and need advises fast. I know I've read on here somewhere but I just don't have the time as I am trying to see how I can make it work properly. Thanks |

Moved to the Corsport forum.
Have you looked at this? > http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/trans...-civic-si.html It's for the TWM, but I believe it is similar. |

you just have to grind the plastic part down a little so blue thing slides through hole better. i just used a razor knife to trim a little so it wouldnt rub. easy fix, should have noticed it when you got it together. shift it to lower gears and you will see where it hits.

I bent the hell out of the short shifter after trying to take the blue cap off and installed it back into my stock shifter. I did however installed it and drove it around the block. I could shift to all gears but grinds because of the shift cable being rubbing on the plastic ( the black piece that goes over the blue ball ) . I do have to force it to go into 2nd but decided I don't want to drive it like that. sileentkillz1, that's the exact same problem I am having.
I don't think I could ship it back with the bottom bent alittle. Trying to take the blue ball off that thing was worst than when it was on the stock one. I do buy alot of things from CorSports but this was one item ever that had this fittment issue. But I am not just the only one with this problem. Last edited by bouncer07; 12-14-2008 at 12:29 AM. |

Did you put aluminum shifter brushings on too? If so, that's a problem too if you pulled too far. I did that because I was rushing on a simple install. Cost close to 300. Didn't have 2,4,6, or reverse.

See here: problem with corsport Short shifter
Its' NOT our shifter, it's the car, happens with ALL the brands of shortshifters on a percentage of these civics. You need to MOD it to fit if your car is one of those percentages. Tai

^lol, yeah, I mean, they do call it modding your car for a reason.
Ill have to add a disclaimer to the description on the site that it may require plastic trimming for clearance.

Tried my friends CT SS after I installed mine and it seems like his SS fits in perfectly with no clearance issue on my car. But all no worries, I'll be trimming off some plastic to make my CorSport SS fit. And YES, put in a disclaimer that some models will need to trim off some plastic for clearance.
I will take some pictures of it untrimmed , then shifting it and seeing where it is hitting, and trimming it for clearance to go in gears. Mine needed it modified trim. Last edited by bouncer07; 12-15-2008 at 01:19 PM. |

it takes patience and some good good hand dexterity to install those shifters. I had a problem with 3rd gear and 3rd gear only because i stretched one of the cables under the hood. I was trying to put the small cable bushing on the shifter end ring but didn't unbolt the cable mount completely off because i was in a hurry to get it on there so i put some multipurpose grease around the sides of the bushing then tryed to force it on the cable ring end by hammering on it realizing that i could of got on easier by taking the cable mounts off. The bushing has to be completely straight on top of the ring to fit because it fits flush tight it just needs a little grease to slide on easy. Now i corrected third gear problem by shifting in a certain way to make it go in.It dosen't get in 3rd gear mostly when i down shift from a turn.
