Thumbs down Si Oil filter

Just got done changing the oil tonight and still hate where the oil filter is located. Does anyone know why the filter is located in such a poor/difficult place?

It will be forever a mystery.

Use sand paper next time. It really helps a lot.

i think i have the technique down now after two oil changes but you are def going to get sum scratches. I read in another thread about using a plastic bag to catch the oil filter to prevent oil from getting everywhere and it works perfectly. Saves me from ruining another shirt!

or you could just take the passenger wheel off and have nothing drip on you as you're reaching through the wheel well...

I do that now and I actually don't dread the oil changes anymore... still a pain to have to do all that for what it is, but it at least makes filter access that much easier

Since day 1 of changing my own oil, I've NEVER had a problem of the location. Could it be in a better spot?, OH YEAH!, but Butch up and JUST DO IT. It's not the worse thing in the world.

Or just do what I did - have the dealer throw in lifetime oil changes before you seal the deal.

^ LOL, nah, I couldn't ever let someone touch my Si if it was something as easy as an oil change. I wouldn't let anyone touch my car unless I had too.

I do all my own oil changes, wheel swaps and rotations, Fluid changes and fillups and air filter changes. It's simple stuff and makes for a better intimate relationship with your ride. Oh how sexy
