I did a major NO NO in my Si...
Im so upset just a lil over a month old, and i did a major no no, i know you guys say dont smoke in your car but i was tired and needed to get somewhere. well my hand slipped and hit the steering wheel, cherry popped and landed on my crotch, i thought i brushed it onto the ground but yeah i smelled burning and i feel a burn mark on my seat :/ i am so upset. but i guess its inspiration for new seats or new upholstery. Ive known this has happen to a few members. whatever when i get my money right it'll be fixed

My friend burned a hole into her seat and had it redone. She bought the part from Honda and had a recommended upholstery shop do the work. Looks perfect.

I smoke in my car. The worst after effect of smoking was when i was sitting at a light with my cigarette out the window and wind blew some ash into my left eye. It burned so bad and i couldnt see cause of the pain and the tears coming out of my eyes. that sucked.

I don't smoke and I hate it when ppl smoke in their car and I ride with them, my wife has started to do that recently, even tho she smokes she never did it in the car until recently, she knows better than to smoke in mine, but when I have to use hers I open all the windows and spray the entire interior with odor killer and let it air out before I use it. She even burned her front mat but not her seat, yet!!

You need the seat bottom cover (I get mine at cost, and lost the receipt so I'm not for sure on the price) about 90 bucks. You'll need the "hog ring set" and Hog ring pliers (I did mine with needle nose pliers, and took a little longer) and about an hour or two. Bought mine a month or so back and installed it over the last week end. Looks Great now.

I smoke but never have smoked in my Si. If I am having one and even have to run in right quick to grab something I put it out first hehe.
Talk about smells, my 3 year old has been trying not to wear diapers anymore and pee'd her pants in my back seat. When it started to get warm out I started to smell something when I had the windows up till I figured out what she had done. I scotchguarded it though and went back there with cleaner and it's all good now. She also left a peanut butter cup in my cup holder back there that I had fun scrubbing out when it melted grrrr Last edited by 337; 05-16-2008 at 11:20 AM. |

Replacing seat covers is no big deal, just buy the cover from Honda and do it yourself. I've taken a few seats apart to repair foam and wash the covers in a washing machine and make them good as new. I've never used hog rings to re assemble though. Black zip ties have worked fine for me.

And the other guy who said that a cherry would just 'fizzle out' and to use common sense- common sense tells us that it burnt a hole in the seat, so it'll burn a hole in your pants too, and ballzak maybe. I don't smoke, but I remember one incident from back in the day when I did- the cherry dropped, I couldn't easily find it (and I was driving) so I guessed it was out, until I smelled smoke and almost simultaneously felt a fire under my thigh/ass - it very quickly burned through my pants and got me. I pulled over almost losing it into a parked car a jumped out only to see the cherry still burning and a hole in my seat. Back then I drove a beater truck so I didn't care about the seat but that didn't make my ass feel any better. Oh and OP, sorry to hear about your seat hopefully a fix won't be too expensive. |

LOLs to last post. Yeah i hope its an inexpensive fix, wanna spend my money on mods not my seat. and for those who dont smoke, the cherry does not fizzle out it wouldve easily burned a hole into my nuts. Im glad im not the only one with this experience, and to the poster with the kids throwing up, im glad that hasnt happened to me yet. i had a few bitches completely blasted in my car sitting like sideways saying their gonna throw up. i was doing like 90 all the way home so they wouldnt get the time to throw up.
