BTW I think Boost was saying that the problem is between the steering wheel and seat. The only thing that occupies that space is YOU.
On the other side I cannot let him dismiss this very real problem by yet again pointing fingers at the operator. Sure there are some flawed drivers out there. This issue is bigger than that.

I don't know what it was but my car just randomly fixed itself. No 3rd gear grinds, no 2nd gear grinds at all its just perfect everytime. It goes into gear fine everytime I shift.

That is HOGWASH. I have 7000 KM on my car and the clutch feels the exact same as it did when it had 1km on it. And i drive my car like I stole it. THE CLUTCH IS SELF ADJUSTING, this isnt an old style cable clutch with a firewall adjuster that was adjustable.

Do you adjust your BRAKE pedal freeplay every 5000 miles because the brake pedal works on the same principal as the clutch pedal. I wonder if the gas pedal is going to start getting this freeplay as well.
Why no mention of this clutch adjustment in the manual??

ALSO, if the clutch was the culprit IT WOULD GRIND GOING INTO ALL GEARS, not just 2nd, not just 2nd and third or some random order of gears.

MISADJUSTED CLUTCH= GRIND/CLASH in ALL GEARS ALL THE TIME, its not something that will be intermittent.

I wouldn't dismiss this fix. I did this on my Mazdaspeed6 and it worked like a charm. You're adjusting the travel and engagement point of the clutch pedal. If I can find the diagram that I found in the Mazda6 forums I will post it up because it is rather helpful if you wish to adjust it yourself. Took me approx 5 mins to do and it helped a lot.

Here's the thread from the Mazda forum... Clutch engagement point changed? - Mazda6 / Atenza

..and here's the diagram that works for Mazda's but is also handy in order to understand what is exactly being adjusted.... Board Message

Thanks FlyinSI for the back-up. Some of you think that it's because of bad driver or w/e but I wasn't the only one with the problem. This in fact helps and WORKS.

Maybe you didn't read the first posts where I said that it wasn't only 2nd it grinded. 2nd grinds more than the rest because I assume that the ratios are very close to each other compared to the other gears.

^ thank goodness! My second is a biatch, particularly in cold weather. It wont allow me to go in or out without shifting really slow. I called the dealership and will take it in sometime next month.

your adjusting the throw of the pedal and clutch master cylinder, I had to do it on my Crappy ACT, You need to constantly adjust it, til theres nothing left to adjust then its time to replace the clutch. Id say you were a little too hard on yoru clutch got it glazed and its slipping. I beat on mine too early.

I think I might have the opposite problem with this. My clutch engagement point is at the very top. I barely have to press down and the thing will disengage, its slowely moved to the top. Does anyone know what this means? Do I need a new clutch or do I need to adjust the engagement point?

wow, really? it was at the top where you barely push it in? how do you adjust it so that it is back in the middle? also, how does it get that way to begin with?

Because our clutch is hydraulic so the car "tries" to adjust and what is does is go out of place... this is why you need to check it frequently.

Mine only grinds when the rpms are or above 7500rpm, and I i try to smash it into 2nd.

Other then that 2nd is fine for me, i have about 2600miles on my car now.
