People with short shifters

I have searched around the forum and have not found much info about these. I have read some people say they wouldn't drive their Si's if it wasn't for their short shifters... Who here has one and why is this true? I read in a review that a civic with a short shifter did not experience the 3rd gear problem that much... Does this mean that a short shifter will help not grinding the gears and such?

short shifter won't fix the 3rd gear problem. I have the TWM and it's ok. It's a slight difference. I'm more interested in a new shifter assembly, so I'm lookin to see if the Mugen kit for the RSX-S will work in the Si.

zid, just get the Mugen kit for the Mugen Si Sedan then. You know that will work.

I just have the base bushings, and you know how you see other cars wobble at the shifter when cornering or just when idling? Mine's rock solid. No movement at all. It makes it feel more...mechanical.

I would. I've been using it for two years, and no detrimental effects that I've felt. My friend doesn't like it, but I actually do.

I have the CT SS and well its ok. Don't like that i had to trim off a good chunk to make it fit and well while it helps it still makes the 3rd gear very notchy and still grinds.

He says it feels TOO mechanical, which is my pro about it. He also said there's no feeling in the shifter, but that complaint was also apparent when I first got the car.

As far as modifications to the shifter area, the TWM SS that I use had no need for any type of modification for it to fit and move properly.
