NEW INTAKE DESIGN ON 08's ????

I just got my 08 FA5 and was putting in some new head light bulbs in the low and high beams and noticed that the intake looks alot diff then my 07 FA5. The intake pipe comes off the tb and to the filter like before then goes down under the head light in the bumper like before but on this one it comes up on the other side of the battery and connects to the trim around the fender. This looks diff to me then my 07 maybe I am tripping let me know what you guys think. I will post pics 2morrow my camera needs charged.

that intake design is the same in the 06, 07, and 08. You probably just never came in close enough proximity to the whole intake system to notice.

this raises another question though, might be a stupid one, but why would they design the outlet where they did?? i understand it's farther from the engine, but wouldn't putting it down where the resonator is be just as if not more effective

if you put it down near the resonator and happened to drive through an amount of water that came up over the intake's end, what would happen? the intake on the Si was designed to act as a "snorkel."

Honda didn't design the intake to produce maximum power, they designed it to produce power, fuel efficiency, AND to be practical to the majority of people.

there have actually been a bunch of other threads on this subject.

No, he's very serious. We're all being very serious because this is a very serious thread.

I remember reading an article with information from the designers of the intake. They actually had a set volume of intake tubing that they wanted to incorporate to get the most aggressive sound out of the intake. That's why the tube goes all the way down to the resonator then back up to the fender. The fender is just a good place to pull air because it's isolated from the engine by the body but still protected from the elements.

my intake snorkel came up out behind the battery. regardless of how the intake sounds, Honda was going to make the intake come out at a high point. once they found the location they may have tuned it for sound, but they certainly didn't tune it for sound first and find that particular spot as the best location.

actually they did tune the resonator for sound, thats why it sounds the way it does.

there's a thread about that on here somewhere in the vasteness of 8th.

I don't disagree that they tuned it for sound. however, they chose the location for the "end" of the intake for practicality first, and then tuned it for sound.
