cleaning inside rim

Hey, how do you folks clean the inside part of your Si rims. I find it difficult and sometimes painful to get in there with a cloth while I'm washing. Is there any particular tool you use? I find just soap and water gets all the grime and rust off.

I hand wash my car in the tiny space the condo allows us to use. I wish I had a powerwasher!

do you have enough room to remove the wheels? Thats the easiest way to get at the inside of the wheel.

I use a Meguires Wheel Spoke Brush. Meguires no longer makes these, and I picked mine up at BigLots about a year ago.

Here is an example of what you are looking for. It's not 100% clean, but it does get most of the visible crap off.

Exactly. U dont even need a cleaner, except soap and water. As long as ur scrubbing lightly, the brake dust will come off easily

I clean the inside of my wheels with a small sponge everytime I hand wash the car.

I clean it weekly by hand by forcing a rag around inside the rim. Gets it all clean it just is quite a pain. I don't want to be taking my rims off everytime I wash the car. Everytime you touch the lug nuts they rust even more!

Hmm yeah a narrow brush or a handled sponge or something would work. Anybody else use something like that?

I just clean the inside of the rims with a soapy rag. I try to do it every time I wash the car. Its a pain but I like to keep my rims looking clean.

I use a seperate washmit for my wheels. if you wash them regularly, you won't get that nasty buildup on them. for the inside, I reach around in back and clean them, move the car up a bit and clean the rest of the inside (gotta love the calipers and not being able to get in there)

Ah the reach-around! I haven't tried because I don't want to lay in the wash water

Wow bump. I was just going to post this exact thread (but in the detail section).

I too was trying to find an easier way to clean the wheels (rather than shoving a MF towel in there and wiping around them) but it seems there is not one.

I guess I'll keep on doing how I'm doing. I try to access the inside part from behind the wheels whenever possible but it's kinda hard.

I'll keep on the lookout for a nice brush or tool of some sort to get back there easily and keep everyone updated if I find something.

^ I have a brush (Meguires I think) that looks like that, I got it at fleet farm for $2... only it has really fallen apart with use over the last year or so. The wheel brushes at major auto parts stores are too fat to fit inside the flower-power wheels, and too stubby to reach in very far. I've been keeping my eye out for a new one like the one posted above, but no luck yet.

I use the meguiars one and it works pretty well. Just a warning, if the dirty water gets on your clothes it will be a pain to clean it.

You can even try the mother ball but I think that bigger brush will work best.
