Going from 06' EX to 08' Si - Ques...

I am seriously considering selling my EX in 2-3 months and am considering getting a 08' Si...
I'm selling my EX because of the rear camber problem (factory fix didn't completely work and the car still pulls to the right) and there isn't enough power..

So my question: Is the 2008 Si any better quality than the 06' EX?
I HATE the idea of buying a new Si to find that the transmission is going South on me and Honda won't do a thing about it.. I've already experienced the worst Honda could offer in the way of customer DIS-service and really don't want to go that way again..
I'm looking at other cars, new & used, but am really trying to find a reason to buy another Civic (2008 Si in this case)..
Is there anyone out there who has an 2008 Si that hasn't had any problems..??! Anybody out there with 15K-20K on their 2008 Si that can provide me with some feedback?

Many thanks - 1 Old Road Dog

its pretty natural.....the road isn't 100% straight....

most of our cars pulls left or right...depending on the road.

mostly right though......

I really appreciate the feedback - I'm so damn paranoid about more Civic problems and the lousy Honda USA customer service - BUT I really like the basic car.. Trying to convince myself to go with the Si.. (although I did find a nice used G35 6MT for the price of a new Si!)

Thanks!

Doug

I just went from an 06 EX to an 08 Si. I loved my EX, and it gave me no problems, but I'm IN LOVE with my Si. It's so much more fun to drive and just be in.

I've only had mine for a little over a month, but no major problems other than some rattles in the dash. I could get them fixed, but the ride is pretty harsh, and I think they would just come back??????

Good luck

If you can, I would suggest you wait until September for the 2009 Si since there will be MMC. Four months is a walk in the park.

^^Are you serious? I think I just threw up in my mouth. He wanted a quality car, not one that will fall apart in 2 months.

I have an '08 Si, the transmission shouldn't be a problem, look at the VIN announcement on the opening page..when you take delivery (if you get one) check out the VIN first. I absolutely love my car. Its worth every penny I'm paying towards it, even gas wise. Every time I step in that thing I get happy, haha, its so fun to drive.

Good Luck!

We have both a EX sedan and my Si coupe and I really love my Si. Only 6k miles so far but all problem free and it is so much more fun than the EX.....simply love it. Now the G35 is sweet but I feel younger in my Si plus better gas mileage.

LOL, Honda is not the be all of cars. I mean how do you know the cobalt is not a quality car? How can you say the SI is "quality" when 3/4 of the threads here are about people having problems with their SI's? To me and many people here, Honda has lost a touch for quality. From faulty trans, to paint to interior and much more. And you just got your car, how do you know what problems it has?

Some people need to get off honda's balls, look around maybe there's something else you'd like.

^ I've been on this site for 2 years, just don't go by this user name..I changed. I also had a 7th Gen before this, that was my first time entering the "Honda World." I did alot of research before I made this investment beings I'm not even in college yet, making car payments.

I also understand that Honda isn't above everything out there, I've never been like that.

You look at comparisons between the Cobalt SS and the Si and the Si wins. I haven't heard one good thing about the SS. My friend has one and 2 months in the engine is rattling horribly.

American cars FTL.

Well i haven't heard alot of great stuff about the cobalt ss either. My point is, that before i bought my SI, i use to think that my civic would be different from others because it had that Giant H in the front and back, which stood for great reliability. Which obvious now, is not the case. And as your friend has problems with the cobalt, many people on the site have issues with their SI's.

I guess what i'm saying is that, i can no longer say honda is as reliable as i thought they were.

Yeah, I understand you there, but don't base that quality of Hondas just through the Si. Honda is every other category (of course, except for our car) keeps the reputation, even with the Si..I haven't heard of it not being reliable? The biggest problem you see on here is the 3rd gear shit. But idk, just mho.

why would you want to trade a civic for another civic even if it is an si? I guess if you like it so much go for it then. IF you do u should get Rally red FA5, they're hot.

While true, the Chevy effing cobolt is not the place to start looking.

Also, people generally don't make threads that go "HEY GUYS, just wanted to let everyone know that my car is friggin awesome. Kk, that's it, ciao!"

Tranny issues have been addressed, paint has always blown ass from what I can tell, interior...well, it's not a lexus, it's a 20k civic with an engine that's totally unmatched in it's class, the scales had to balance out somewhere didn't they?

... because probably about 5% of the people that actually own Si's are part of this site. Just because you see a lot of threads doesnt mean everyone on the site has the problem, either... So basically... you have LESS than 5% of Si's out there with a problem. I'd hardly call that 'unreliable'.
